ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਛੰਤ ॥

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl, Chhant:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਜਿਸੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਹਰਿ ਗਾਵੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥

satigur deen daiaal jis sa(n)g har gaaveeai jeeu ||

The True Guru is merciful to the meek; in His Presence, the Lord's Praises are sung.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਰਾਵੀਐ ਜੀਉ ॥

a(n)mrit har kaa naam saadhasa(n)g raaveeai jeeu ||

The Ambrosial Name of the Lord is chanted in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy.

ਭਜੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਇਕੁ ਅਰਾਧੂ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਦੁਖ ਨਾਸਏ ॥

bhaj sa(n)g saadhoo ik araadhoo janam maran dukh naasae ||

Vibrating, and worshipping the One Lord in the Company of the Holy, the pains of birth and death are removed.

ਧੁਰਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਸਾਚੁ ਸਿਖਿਆ ਕਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਏ ॥

dhur karam likhiaa saach sikhiaa katee jam kee phaasae ||

Those who have such karma pre-ordained, study and learn the Truth; the noose of Death is removed from their necks.

ਭੈ ਭਰਮ ਨਾਠੇ ਛੁਟੀ ਗਾਠੇ ਜਮ ਪੰਥਿ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਆਵੀਐ ॥

bhai bharam naathe chhutee gaathe jam pa(n)th mool na aaveeai ||

Their fears and doubts are dispelled, the knot of death is untied, and they never have to walk on Death's path.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਧਾਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੀਐ ॥੧॥

binava(n)t naanak dhaar kirapaa sadaa har gun gaaveeai ||1||

Prays Nanak, shower me with Your Mercy, Lord; let me sing Your Glorious Praises forever. ||1||

ਨਿਧਰਿਆ ਧਰ ਏਕੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੋ ਜੀਉ ॥

nidhariaa dhar ek naam nira(n)jano jeeu ||

The Name of the One, Immaculate Lord is the Support of the unsupported.

ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਦਾਤਾਰੁ ਸਰਬ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨੋ ਜੀਉ ॥

too daataa daataar sarab dukh bha(n)jano jeeu ||

You are the Giver, the Great Giver, the Dispeller of all sorrow.

ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੁਖਹ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਆਇਆ ॥

dukh harat karataa sukhah suaamee saran saadhoo aaiaa ||

O Destroyer of pain, Creator Lord, Master of peace and bliss, I have come seeking the Sanctuary of the Holy;

ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖੜਾ ਪਲ ਏਕ ਮਾਹਿ ਤਰਾਇਆ ॥

sa(n)saar saagar mahaa bikhaRaa pal ek maahi taraaiaa ||

please, help me to cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean in an instant.

ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬ ਥਾਈ ਗੁਰ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨੇਤ੍ਰੀ ਅੰਜਨੋ ॥

poor rahiaa sarab thaaee gur giaan netree a(n)jano ||

I saw the Lord pervading and permeating everywhere, when the healing ointment of the Guru's wisdom was applied to my eyes.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਦਾ ਸਿਮਰੀ ਸਰਬ ਦੁਖ ਭੈ ਭੰਜਨੋ ॥੨॥

binava(n)t naanak sadaa simaree sarab dukh bhai bha(n)jano ||2||

Prays Nanak, remember Him forever in meditation, the Destroyer of all sorrow and fear. ||2||

ਆਪਿ ਲੀਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀਆ ਜੀਉ ॥

aap leee laR laai kirapaa dhaareeaa jeeu ||

He Himself has attached me to the hem of His robe; He has showered me with His Mercy.

ਮੋਹਿ ਨਿਰਗੁਣੁ ਨੀਚੁ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਗਮ ਅਪਾਰੀਆ ਜੀਉ ॥

mohi niragun neech anaath prabh agam apaareeaa jeeu ||

I am worthless, lowly and helpless; God is unfathomable and infinite.

ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਨੀਚ ਥਾਪਣਹਾਰਿਆ ॥

daiaal sadaa kripaal suaamee neech thaapanahaariaa ||

My Lord and Master is always merciful, kind and compassionate; He uplifts and establishes the lowly.

ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਵਸਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਸਗਲ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਾਰਿਆ ॥

jee ja(n)t sabh vas terai sagal teree saariaa ||

All beings and creatures are under Your power; You take care of all.

ਆਪਿ ਕਰਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਭੁਗਤਾ ਆਪਿ ਸਗਲ ਬੀਚਾਰੀਆ ॥

aap karataa aap bhugataa aap sagal beechaareeaa ||

He Himself is the Creator, and He Himself is the Enjoyer; He Himself is the Contemplator of all.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ਜੀਵਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਪੁ ਜਪਉ ਬਨਵਾਰੀਆ ॥੩॥

binava(n)t naanak gun gaai jeevaa har jap japau banavaareeaa ||3||

Prays Nanak, singing Your Glorious Praises, I live, chanting the Chant of the Lord, the Lord of the world-forest. ||3||

ਤੇਰਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਅਪਾਰੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਮੋਲਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

teraa daras apaar naam amolaee jeeu ||

The Blessed Vision of Your Darshan is incomparable; Your Name is utterly priceless.

ਨਿਤਿ ਜਪਹਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਸ ਪੁਰਖ ਅਤੋਲਈ ਜੀਉ ॥

nit japahi tere daas purakh atolaee jeeu ||

O my Incomputable Lord, Your humble servants ever meditate on You.

ਸੰਤ ਰਸਨ ਵੂਠਾ ਆਪਿ ਤੂਠਾ ਹਰਿ ਰਸਹਿ ਸੇਈ ਮਾਤਿਆ ॥

sa(n)t rasan voothaa aap toothaa har rasahi seee maatiaa ||

You dwell on the tongues of the Saints, by Your own pleasure; they are intoxicated with Your sublime essence, O Lord.

ਗੁਰ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਮਹਾ ਭਾਗੇ ਸਦਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਗਿਆ ॥

gur charan laage mahaa bhaage sadaa anadin jaagiaa ||

Those who are attached to Your feet are very blessed; night and day, they remain always awake and aware.

ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਤਬੵ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਗੁਣ ਬੋਲਈ ॥

sad sadaa si(n)mrataby suaamee saas saas gun bolaee ||

Forever and ever, meditate in remembrance on the Lord and Master; with each and every breath, speak His Glorious Praises.

ਬਿਨਵੰਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਧੂਰਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਅਮੋਲਈ ॥੪॥੧॥

binava(n)t naanak dhoor saadhoo naam prabhoo amolaee ||4||1||

Prays Nanak, let me become the dust of the feet of the Saints. God's Name is invaluable. ||4||1||

ਰਾਗੁ ਧਨਾਸਰੀ ਬਾਣੀ ਭਗਤ ਕਬੀਰ ਜੀ ਕੀ ॥

ਸਨਕ ਸਨੰਦ ਮਹੇਸ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ॥

sanak sana(n)d mahes samaanaa(n) ||

Beings like Sanak, Sanand, Shiva and Shaysh-naaga

ਸੇਖਨਾਗਿ ਤੇਰੋ ਮਰਮੁ ਨ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੧॥

sekhanaag tero maram na jaanaa(n) ||1||

- none of them know Your mystery, Lord. ||1||

ਸੰਤਸੰਗਤਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਸਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

sa(n)tasa(n)gat raam ridai basaaee ||1|| rahaau ||

In the Society of the Saints, the Lord dwells within the heart. ||1||Pause||

ਹਨੂਮਾਨ ਸਰਿ ਗਰੁੜ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ॥

hanoomaan sar garuR samaanaa(n) ||

Beings like Hanumaan, Garura, Indra the King of the gods and the rulers of humans

ਸੁਰਪਤਿ ਨਰਪਤਿ ਨਹੀ ਗੁਨ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੨॥

surapat narapat nahee gun jaanaa(n) ||2||

- none of them know Your Glories, Lord. ||2||

ਚਾਰਿ ਬੇਦ ਅਰੁ ਸਿੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਿ ਪੁਰਾਨਾਂ ॥

chaar bed ar si(n)mrit puraanaa(n) ||

The four Vedas, the Simritees and the Puraanas, Vishnu the Lord of Lakshmi

ਕਮਲਾਪਤਿ ਕਵਲਾ ਨਹੀ ਜਾਨਾਂ ॥੩॥

kamalaapat kavalaa nahee jaanaa(n) ||3||

And Lakshmi herself - none of them know the Lord. ||3||

ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਸੋ ਭਰਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥

kahi kabeer so bharamai naahee ||

Says Kabeer, one who falls at the Lord's feet,

ਪਗ ਲਗਿ ਰਾਮ ਰਹੈ ਸਰਨਾਂਹੀ ॥੪॥੧॥

pag lag raam rahai saranaa(n)hee ||4||1||

And remains in His Sanctuary, does not wander around lost. ||4||1||
