ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਜਾਣੁ ਬੁਝਿ ਵੀਚਾਰਦਾ ॥

sabh kichh jaanai jaan bujh veechaaradaa ||

The Knower knows everything; He understands and contemplates.

ਅਨਿਕ ਰੂਪ ਖਿਨ ਮਾਹਿ ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਧਾਰਦਾ ॥

anik roop khin maahi kudarat dhaaradaa ||

By His creative power, He assumes numerous forms in an instant.

ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਲਾਇ ਸਚਿ ਤਿਸਹਿ ਉਧਾਰਦਾ ॥

jis no laai sach tisahi udhaaradaa ||

One whom the Lord attaches to the Truth is redeemed.

ਜਿਸ ਦੈ ਹੋਵੈ ਵਲਿ ਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਹਾਰਦਾ ॥

jis dai hovai val s kade na haaradaa ||

One who has God on his side is never conquered.

ਸਦਾ ਅਭਗੁ ਦੀਬਾਣੁ ਹੈ ਹਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਦਾ ॥੪॥

sadaa abhag deebaan hai hau tis namasakaaradaa ||4||

His Court is eternal and imperishable; I humbly bow to Him. ||4||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Salok, Fifth Mehl:

ਕਾਮੁ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਲੋਭੁ ਛੋਡੀਐ ਦੀਜੈ ਅਗਨਿ ਜਲਾਇ ॥

kaam krodh lobh chhodeeai deejai agan jalaai ||

Renounce sexual desire, anger and greed, and burn them in the fire.

ਜੀਵਦਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਜਾਪੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ॥੧॥

jeevadiaa nit jaapeeai naanak saachaa naau ||1||

As long as you are alive, O Nanak, meditate continually on the True Name. ||1||

Fifth Mehl:

ਸਿਮਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਭ ਫਲ ਪਾਏ ਆਹਿ ॥

simarat simarat prabh aapanaa sabh phal paae aahi ||

Meditating, meditating in remembrance on my God, I have obtained all the fruits.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਾਧਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੀਆ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੨॥

naanak naam araadhiaa gur poorai deeaa milaai ||2||

O Nanak, I worship the Naam, the Name of the Lord; the Perfect Guru has united me with the Lord. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

pauRee ||

Pauree:

ਸੋ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਸੰਸਾਰਿ ਜਿ ਗੁਰਿ ਉਪਦੇਸਿਆ ॥

so mukataa sa(n)saar j gur upadesiaa ||

One who has been instructed by the Guru is liberated in this world.

ਤਿਸ ਕੀ ਗਈ ਬਲਾਇ ਮਿਟੇ ਅੰਦੇਸਿਆ ॥

tis kee gaee balaai mite a(n)desiaa ||

He avoids disaster, and his anxiety is dispelled.

ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

tis kaa darasan dekh jagat nihaal hoi ||

Beholding the blessed vision of his Darshan, the world is over-joyed.

ਜਨ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਪਾਪਾ ਮੈਲੁ ਧੋਇ ॥

jan kai sa(n)g nihaal paapaa mail dhoi ||

In the company of the Lord's humble servants, the world is over-joyed, and the filth of sin is washed away.

ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਨਾਉ ਓਥੈ ਜਾਪੀਐ ॥

a(n)mrit saachaa naau othai jaapeeai ||

There, they meditate on the Ambrosial Nectar of the True Name.

ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਭੁਖਾ ਧ੍ਰਾਪੀਐ ॥

man kau hoi sa(n)tokh bhukhaa dhraapeeai ||

The mind becomes content, and its hunger is satisfied.

ਜਿਸੁ ਘਟਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਨਾਉ ਤਿਸੁ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੀਐ ॥

jis ghat vasiaa naau tis ba(n)dhan kaateeai ||

One whose heart is filled with the Name, has his bonds cut away.

ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਖਾਟੀਐ ॥੫॥

gur parasaad kinai viralai har dhan khaateeai ||5||

By Guru's Grace, some rare person earns the wealth of the Lord's Name. ||5||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Salok, Fifth Mehl:

ਮਨ ਮਹਿ ਚਿਤਵਉ ਚਿਤਵਨੀ ਉਦਮੁ ਕਰਉ ਉਠਿ ਨੀਤ ॥

man mahi chitavau chitavanee udam karau uth neet ||

Within my mind, I think thoughts of always rising early, and making the effort.

ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਕਾ ਆਹਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੇ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥

har keeratan kaa aaharo har dehu naanak ke meet ||1||

O Lord, my Friend, please bless Nanak with the habit of singing the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises. ||1||

ਮਃ ੫ ॥

mah 5 ||

Fifth Mehl:

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਰਤਾ ਮੂਲਿ ॥

drisat dhaar prabh raakhiaa man tan rataa mool ||

Casting His Glance of Grace, God has saved me; my mind and body are imbued with the Primal Being.

ਨਾਨਕ ਜੋ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਭਾਣੀਆ ਮਰਉ ਵਿਚਾਰੀ ਸੂਲਿ ॥੨॥

naanak jo prabh bhaaneeaa marau vichaaree sool ||2||

O Nanak, those who are pleasing to God, have their cries of suffering taken away. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:

ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਹੋਇ ਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ਕਰਿ ॥

jee kee birathaa hoi s gur pahi aradaas kar ||

When your soul is feeling sad, offer your prayers to the Guru.

ਛੋਡਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਸਗਲ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਅਰਪਿ ਧਰਿ ॥

chhod siaanap sagal man tan arap dhar ||

Renounce all your cleverness, and dedicate your mind and body to Him.

ਪੂਜਹੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪੈਰ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਜਾਇ ਜਰਿ ॥

poojahu gur ke pair duramat jaai jar ||

Worship the Feet of the Guru, and your evil-mindedness shall be burnt away.

ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਭਵਜਲੁ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਤਰਿ ॥

saadh janaa kai sa(n)g bhavajal bikham tar ||

Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, you shall cross over the terrifying and difficult world-ocean.

ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਦੇਵ ਅਗੈ ਨ ਮਰਹੁ ਡਰਿ ॥

sevahu satigur dev agai na marahu dar ||

Serve the True Guru, and in the world hereafter, you shall not die of fear.

ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੇ ਨਿਹਾਲੁ ਊਣੇ ਸੁਭਰ ਭਰਿ ॥

khin mahi kare nihaal oone subhar bhar ||

In an instant, he shall make you happy, and the empty vessel shall be filled to overflowing.

ਮਨ ਕਉ ਹੋਇ ਸੰਤੋਖੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ॥

man kau hoi sa(n)tokh dhiaaeeai sadaa har ||

The mind becomes content, meditating forever on the Lord.

ਸੋ ਲਗਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਸੇਵ ਜਾ ਕਉ ਕਰਮੁ ਧੁਰਿ ॥੬॥

so lagaa satigur sev jaa kau karam dhur ||6||

He alone dedicates himself to the Guru's service, unto whom the Lord has granted His Grace. ||6||

ਸਲੋਕ ਮਃ ੫ ॥

Salok, Fifth Mehl:

ਲਗੜੀ ਸੁਥਾਨਿ ਜੋੜਣਹਾਰੈ ਜੋੜੀਆ ॥

lagaRee suthaan joRanahaarai joReeaa ||

I am attached to the right place; the Uniter has united me.

ਨਾਨਕ ਲਹਰੀ ਲਖ ਸੈ ਆਨ ਡੁਬਣ ਦੇਇ ਨ ਮਾ ਪਿਰੀ ॥੧॥

naanak laharee lakh sai aan duban dei na maa piree ||1||

O Nanak, there are hundreds and thousands of waves, but my Husband Lord does not let me drown. ||1||

ਮਃ ੫ ॥

mah 5 ||

Fifth Mehl:

ਬਨਿ ਭੀਹਾਵਲੈ ਹਿਕੁ ਸਾਥੀ ਲਧਮੁ ਦੁਖ ਹਰਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥

ban bheehaavalai hik saathee ladham dukh harataa har naamaa ||

In the dreadful wilderness, I have found the one and only companion; the Name of the Lord is the Destroyer of distress.

ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਈ ਸੰਤ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਾਮਾਂ ॥੨॥

bal bal jaaee sa(n)t piaare naanak pooran kaamaa(n) ||2||

I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to the Beloved Saints, O Nanak; through them, my affairs have been brought to fulfillment. ||2||

ਪਉੜੀ ॥

Pauree:

ਪਾਈਅਨਿ ਸਭਿ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤਿਆ ॥

paaeean sabh nidhaan terai ra(n)g ratiaa ||

All treasures are obtained, when we are attuned to Your Love.

ਨ ਹੋਵੀ ਪਛੋਤਾਉ ਤੁਧ ਨੋ ਜਪਤਿਆ ॥

na hovee pachhotaau tudh no japatiaa ||

One does not have to suffer regret and repentance, when he meditates on You.

ਪਹੁਚਿ ਨ ਸਕੈ ਕੋਇ ਤੇਰੀ ਟੇਕ ਜਨ ॥

pahuch na sakai koi teree tek jan ||

No one can equal Your humble servant, who has Your Support.

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਵਾਹੁ ਵਾਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਲਹਾ ਚਿਤਾਰਿ ਮਨ ॥

gur poore vaahu vaahu sukh lahaa chitaar man ||

Waaho! Waaho! How wonderful is the Perfect Guru! Cherishing Him in my mind, I obtain peace.

ਗੁਰ ਪਹਿ ਸਿਫਤਿ ਭੰਡਾਰੁ ਕਰਮੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥

gur pahi siphat bha(n)daar karamee paaeeai ||

The treasure of the Lord's Praise comes from the Guru; by His Mercy, it is obtained.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ਬਹੁੜਿ ਨ ਧਾਈਐ ॥

satigur nadar nihaal bahuR na dhaaeeai ||

When the True Guru bestows His Glance of Grace, one does not wander any more.

ਰਖੈ ਆਪਿ ਦਇਆਲੁ ਕਰਿ ਦਾਸਾ ਆਪਣੇ ॥

rakhai aap daiaal kar daasaa aapane ||

The Merciful Lord preserves him - He makes him His own slave.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜੀਵਾ ਸੁਣਿ ਸੁਣੇ ॥੭॥

har har har har naam jeevaa sun sune ||7||

Listening, hearing the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har, I live. ||7||
