ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ਤੂ ਸੁਲਤਾਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਹਉ ਮੀਆ ਤੇਰੀ ਕਵਨ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
too sulataan kahaa hau meeaa teree kavan vadaaee ||
You are the Emperor, and I call You a chief - how does this add to Your greatness?
ਜੋ ਤੂ ਦੇਹਿ ਸੁ ਕਹਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੧॥
jo too dehi s kahaa suaamee mai moorakh kahan na jaaee ||1||
As You permit me, I praise You, O Lord and Master; I am ignorant, and I cannot chant Your Praises. ||1||
ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਦੇਹਿ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
tere gun gaavaa dehi bujhaaee ||
Please bless me with such understanding, that I may sing Your Glorious Praises.
ਜੈਸੇ ਸਚ ਮਹਿ ਰਹਉ ਰਜਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jaise sach mahi rahau rajaaee ||1|| rahaau ||
May I dwell in Truth, according to Your Will. ||1||Pause||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਹੋਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੁਝ ਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਸਭ ਅਸਨਾਈ ॥
jo kichh hoaa sabh kichh tujh te teree sabh asanaaee ||
Whatever has happened, has all come from You. You are All-knowing.
ਤੇਰਾ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ ਕਿਆ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥੨॥
teraa a(n)t na jaanaa mere saahib mai a(n)dhule kiaa chaturaaee ||2||
Your limits cannot be known, O my Lord and Master; I am blind - what wisdom do I have? ||2||
ਕਿਆ ਹਉ ਕਥੀ ਕਥੇ ਕਥਿ ਦੇਖਾ ਮੈ ਅਕਥੁ ਨ ਕਥਨਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
kiaa hau kathee kathe kath dekhaa mai akath na kathanaa jaaee ||
What should I say? While talking, I talk of seeing, but I cannot describe the indescribable.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਆਖਾ ਤਿਲੁ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ॥੩॥
jo tudh bhaavai soee aakhaa til teree vadiaaee ||3||
As it pleases Your Will, I speak; it is just the tiniest bit of Your greatness. ||3||
ਏਤੇ ਕੂਕਰ ਹਉ ਬੇਗਾਨਾ ਭਉਕਾ ਇਸੁ ਤਨ ਤਾਈ ॥
ete kookar hau begaanaa bhaukaa is tan taaee ||
Among so many dogs, I am an outcast; I bark for my body's belly.
ਭਗਤਿ ਹੀਣੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੇ ਹੋਇਗਾ ਤਾ ਖਸਮੈ ਨਾਉ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥੪॥੧॥
bhagat heen naanak je hoigaa taa khasamai naau na jaaee ||4||1||
Without devotional worship, O Nanak, even so, still, my Master's Name does not leave me. ||4||1||

ਮਨੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਤਨੁ ਵੇਸ ਕਲੰਦਰੁ ਘਟ ਹੀ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵਾ ॥
man ma(n)dar tan ves kala(n)dar ghat hee teerath naavaa ||
My mind is the temple, and my body is the simple cloth of the humble seeker; deep within my heart, I bathe at the sacred shrine.
ਏਕੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮੇਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਿ ਬਸਤੁ ਹੈ ਬਾਹੁੜਿ ਜਨਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਾ ॥੧॥
ek sabad merai praan basat hai baahuR janam na aavaa ||1||
The One Word of the Shabad abides within my mind; I shall not come to be born again. ||1||
ਮਨੁ ਬੇਧਿਆ ਦਇਆਲ ਸੇਤੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਮਾਈ ॥
man bedhiaa daiaal setee meree maaee ||
My mind is pierced through by the Merciful Lord, O my mother!
ਕਉਣੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਪੀਰ ਪਰਾਈ ॥
kaun jaanai peer paraaee ||
Who can know the pain of another?
ਹਮ ਨਾਹੀ ਚਿੰਤ ਪਰਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
ham naahee chi(n)t paraaee ||1|| rahaau ||
I think of none other than the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਅਗਮ ਅਗੋਚਰ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰਾ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਹੁ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥
agam agochar alakh apaaraa chi(n)taa karahu hamaaree ||
O Lord, inaccessible, unfathomable, invisible and infinite: please, take care of me!
ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮਹੀਅਲਿ ਭਰਿਪੁਰਿ ਲੀਣਾ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ॥੨॥
jal thal maheeal bharipur leenaa ghat ghat jot tumhaaree ||2||
In the water, on the land and in sky, You are totally pervading. Your Light is in each and every heart. ||2||
ਸਿਖ ਮਤਿ ਸਭ ਬੁਧਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ਮੰਦਿਰ ਛਾਵਾ ਤੇਰੇ ॥
sikh mat sabh budh tumhaaree ma(n)dir chhaavaa tere ||
All teachings, instructions and understandings are Yours; the mansions and sanctuaries are Yours as well.
ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਜਾਣਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਾਹਿਬਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਾ ਨਿਤ ਤੇਰੇ ॥੩॥
tujh bin avar na jaanaa mere saahibaa gun gaavaa nit tere ||3||
Without You, I know no other, O my Lord and Master; I continually sing Your Glorious Praises. ||3||
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ ਸਭਿ ਸਰਣਿ ਤੁਮੑਾਰੀ ਸਰਬ ਚਿੰਤ ਤੁਧੁ ਪਾਸੇ ॥
jee ja(n)t sabh saran tumhaaree sarab chi(n)t tudh paase ||
All beings and creatures seek the Protection of Your Sanctuary; all thought of their care rests with You.
ਜੋ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵੈ ਸੋਈ ਚੰਗਾ ਇਕ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸੇ ॥੪॥੨॥
jo tudh bhaavai soee cha(n)gaa ik naanak kee aradaase ||4||2||
That which pleases Your Will is good; this alone is Nanak's prayer. ||4||2||

ਆਪੇ ਸਬਦੁ ਆਪੇ ਨੀਸਾਨੁ ॥

He Himself is the Word of the Shabad, and He Himself is the Insignia.
ਆਪੇ ਸੁਰਤਾ ਆਪੇ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
aape surataa aape jaan ||
He Himself is the Listener, and He Himself is the Knower.
ਆਪੇ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖੈ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
aape kar kar vekhai taan ||
He Himself created the creation, and He Himself beholds His almighty power.
ਤੂ ਦਾਤਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥੧॥
too daataa naam paravaan ||1||
You are the Great Giver; Your Name alone is approved. ||1||
