ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਸੰਗਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਮਨਿ ਲਾਗੀ ਸੁਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਿਲੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥
charan kamal sa(n)g preet man laagee sur jan mile piaare ||
My mind is in love with the Lord's lotus feet; I have met the Beloved Guru, the noble, heroic being.
ਨਾਨਕ ਅਨਦ ਕਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਸਗਲੇ ਰੋਗ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੧੫॥
naanak anad kare har jap jap sagale rog nivaare ||2||10||15||
Nanak celebrates in bliss; chanting and meditating on the Lord, all sickness has been cured. ||2||10||15||

ਹਾਂ ਹਾਂ ਲਪਟਿਓ ਰੇ ਮੂੜੑੇ ਕਛੂ ਨ ਥੋਰੀ ॥
haa(n) haa(n) lapatio re mooRhe kachhoo na thoree ||
Oh! Oh! You cling to Maya, you fool; this is not a trivial matter.
ਤੇਰੋ ਨਹੀ ਸੁ ਜਾਨੀ ਮੋਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tero nahee s jaanee moree || rahaau ||
That which you consider to be yours, is not yours. ||Pause||
ਆਪਨ ਰਾਮੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੋ ਖਿਨੂਆ ॥
aapan raam na cheeno khinooaa ||
You do not remember your Lord, even for an instant.
ਜੋ ਪਰਾਈ ਸੁ ਅਪਨੀ ਮਨੂਆ ॥੧॥
jo paraaee s apanee manooaa ||1||
That which belongs to others, you believe to be your own. ||1||
ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਸੋ ਮਨਿ ਨ ਬਸਾਇਓ ॥
naam sa(n)gee so man na basaaio ||
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is always with you, but you do not enshrine it within your mind.
ਛੋਡਿ ਜਾਹਿ ਵਾਹੂ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਓ ॥੨॥
chhod jaahi vaahoo chit laaio ||2||
You have attached your consciousness to that which you must eventually abandon. ||2||
ਸੋ ਸੰਚਿਓ ਜਿਤੁ ਭੂਖ ਤਿਸਾਇਓ ॥
so sa(n)chio jit bhookh tisaaio ||
You collect that which will bring you only hunger and thirst.
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤੋਸਾ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
a(n)mrit naam tosaa nahee paaio ||3||
You have not obtained the supplies of the Ambrosial Naam. ||3||
ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧਿ ਮੋਹ ਕੂਪਿ ਪਰਿਆ ॥
kaam krodh moh koop pariaa ||
You have fallen into the pit of sexual desire, anger and emotional attachment.
ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੋ ਤਰਿਆ ॥੪॥੧॥੧੬॥
gur prasaad naanak ko tariaa ||4||1||16||
By Guru's Grace, O Nanak, a rare few are saved. ||4||1||16||

Todee, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਮਾਰੈ ਏਕੈ ਹਰੀ ਹਰੀ ॥
hamaarai ekai haree haree ||
I have only the One Lord, my God.
ਆਨ ਅਵਰ ਸਿਞਾਣਿ ਨ ਕਰੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
aan avar sinjaan na karee || rahaau ||
I do not recognize any other. ||Pause||
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਪਾਇਓ ॥
vadai bhaag gur apunaa paaio ||
By great good fortune, I have found my Guru.
ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋ ਕਉ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ॥੧॥
gur mo kau har naam driRaaio ||1||
The Guru has implanted the Name of the Lord within me. ||1||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਾਪ ਤਾਪ ਬ੍ਰਤ ਨੇਮਾ ॥
har har jaap taap brat nemaa ||
The Name of the Lord, Har, Har, is my meditation, austerity, fasting and daily religious practice.
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਇ ਕੁਸਲ ਸਭਿ ਖੇਮਾ ॥੨॥
har har dhiaai kusal sabh khemaa ||2||
Meditating on the Lord, Har, Har, I have found total joy and bliss. ||2||
ਆਚਾਰ ਬਿਉਹਾਰ ਜਾਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨੀਆ ॥
aachaar biuhaar jaat har guneeaa ||
The Praises of the Lord are my good conduct, occupation and social class.
ਮਹਾ ਅਨੰਦ ਕੀਰਤਨ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਨੀਆ ॥੩॥
mahaa ana(n)d keeratan har suneeaa ||3||
Listening to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises, I am in absolute ecstasy. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਨਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
kahu naanak jin thaakur paaiaa ||
Says Nanak, everything comes to the homes
ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੨॥੧੭॥
sabh kichh tis ke grih mahi aaiaa ||4||2||17||
Of those who have found their Lord and Master. ||4||2||17||

ਰੂੜੋ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੋ ਲੋੜੈ ॥
rooRo man har ra(n)go loRai ||
My beautiful mind longs for the Love of the Lord.
ਗਾਲੀ ਹਰਿ ਨੀਹੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gaalee har neehu na hoi || rahaau ||
By mere words, the Lord's Love does not come. ||Pause||
ਹਉ ਢੂਢੇਦੀ ਦਰਸਨ ਕਾਰਣਿ ਬੀਥੀ ਬੀਥੀ ਪੇਖਾ ॥
hau dhoodhedee darasan kaaran beethee beethee pekhaa ||
I have searched for the Blessed Vision of His Darshan, looking in each and every street.
ਗੁਰ ਮਿਲਿ ਭਰਮੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਹੇ ॥੧॥
gur mil bharam gavaaiaa he ||1||
Meeting with the Guru, my doubts have been dispelled. ||1||
ਇਹ ਬੁਧਿ ਪਾਈ ਮੈ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੰਨਹੁ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਿਓ ਧੁਰਿ ਮਾਥੈ ॥
ih budh paaee mai saadhoo ka(n)nahu lekh likhio dhur maathai ||
I have obtained this wisdom from the Holy Saints, according to the pre-ordained destiny inscribed upon my forehead.
ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਨੈਣ ਅਲੋਇ ॥੨॥੧॥੧੮॥
ih bidh naanak har nain aloi ||2||1||18||
In this way, Nanak has seen the Lord with his eyes. ||2||1||18||

ਗਰਬਿ ਗਹਿਲੜੋ ਮੂੜੜੋ ਹੀਓ ਰੇ ॥

My foolish heart is in the grip of pride.
ਹੀਓ ਮਹਰਾਜ ਰੀ ਮਾਇਓ ॥
heeo maharaaj ree maaio ||
By the Will of my Lord God, Maya,
ਡੀਹਰ ਨਿਆਈ ਮੋਹਿ ਫਾਕਿਓ ਰੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
deehar niaaee mohi phaakio re || rahaau ||
Like a witch, has swallowed my soul. ||Pause||
ਘਣੋ ਘਣੋ ਘਣੋ ਸਦ ਲੋੜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਲਹਣੇ ਕੈਠੈ ਪਾਇਓ ਰੇ ॥
ghano ghano ghano sad loRai bin lahane kaithai paaio re ||
More and more, he continually yearns for more; but unless he is destined to receive, how can he obtain it?
ਮਹਰਾਜ ਰੋ ਗਾਥੁ ਵਾਹੂ ਸਿਉ ਲੁਭੜਿਓ ਨਿਹਭਾਗੜੋ ਭਾਹਿ ਸੰਜੋਇਓ ਰੇ ॥੧॥
maharaaj ro gaath vaahoo siu lubhaRio nihabhaagaRo bhaahi sa(n)joio re ||1||
He is entangled in wealth, bestowed by the Lord God; the unfortunate one attaches himself to the fire of desires. ||1||
ਸੁਣਿ ਮਨ ਸੀਖ ਸਾਧੂ ਜਨ ਸਗਲੋ ਥਾਰੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਛਤ ਮਿਟਿਓ ਰੇ ॥
sun man seekh saadhoo jan sagalo thaare sagale praachhat mitio re ||
Listen, O mind, to the Teachings of the Holy Saints, and all your sins shall be totally washed away.
ਜਾ ਕੋ ਲਹਣੋ ਮਹਰਾਜ ਰੀ ਗਾਠੜੀਓ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ਨ ਪਉੜਿਓ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੨॥੧੯॥
jaa ko lahano maharaaj ree gaathaReeo jan naanak garabhaas na pauRio re ||2||2||19||
One who is destined to receive from the Lord, O servant Nanak, shall not be cast into the womb of reincarnation again. ||2||2||19||
