dhanaasaree mah 5 ||
Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋ ਕਤ ਡਰੈ ਜਿ ਖਸਮੁ ਸਮੑਾਰੈ ॥
so kat darai j khasam samhaarai ||
One who contemplates his Lord and Master - why should he be afraid?
ਡਰਿ ਡਰਿ ਪਚੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਵੇਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
dar dar pache manamukh vechaare ||1|| rahaau ||
The wretched self-willed manmukhs are ruined through fear and dread. ||1||Pause||
ਸਿਰ ਊਪਰਿ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਗੁਰਦੇਵ ॥
sir oopar maat pitaa guradev ||
The Divine Guru, my mother and father, is over my head.
ਸਫਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਸੇਵ ॥
saphal moorat jaa kee niramal sev ||
His image brings prosperity; serving Him, we become pure.
ਏਕੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
ek nira(n)jan jaa kee raas ||
The One Lord, the Immaculate Lord, is our capital.
ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਹੋਵਤ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੧॥
mil saadhasa(n)gat hovat paragaas ||1||
Joining the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, we are illumined and enlightened. ||1||
ਜੀਅਨ ਕਾ ਦਾਤਾ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭ ਠਾਇ ॥
jeean kaa daataa pooran sabh thaai ||
The Giver of all beings is totally pervading everywhere.
ਕੋਟਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਇ ॥
kot kales mitahi har naai ||
Millions of pains are removed by the Lord's Name.
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਨ ਸਗਲਾ ਦੁਖੁ ਨਾਸੈ ॥
janam maran sagalaa dukh naasai ||
All the pains of birth and death are taken away
ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਾ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਬਾਸੈ ॥੨॥
guramukh jaa kai man tan baasai ||2||
from the Gurmukh, within whose mind and body the Lord dwells. ||2||
ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਲਏ ਲੜਿ ਲਾਇ ॥
jis no aap lae laR laai ||
He alone, whom the Lord has attached to the hem of His robe,
ਦਰਗਹ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਸੈ ਹੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
daragah milai tisai hee jaai ||
obtains a place in the Court of the Lord.
ਸੇਈ ਭਗਤ ਜਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਭਾਣੇ ॥
seee bhagat j saache bhaane ||
They alone are devotees, who are pleasing to the True Lord.
ਜਮਕਾਲ ਤੇ ਭਏ ਨਿਕਾਣੇ ॥੩॥
jamakaal te bhae nikaane ||3||
They are freed from the Messenger of Death. ||3||
ਸਾਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੁ ਦਰਬਾਰੁ ॥
saachaa saahib sach darabaar ||
True is the Lord, and True is His Court.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਉਣੁ ਕਹੈ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥
keemat kaun kahai beechaar ||
Who can contemplate and describe His value?
ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਗਲ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
ghat ghat a(n)tar sagal adhaar ||
He is within each and every heart, the Support of all.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸੰਤ ਰੇਣਾਰੁ ॥੪॥੩॥੨੪॥
naanak jaachai sa(n)t renaar ||4||3||24||
Nanak begs for the dust of the Saints. ||4||3||24||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaad ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਘਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਭਰਵਾਸਾ ਤੂ ਜਨ ਕੈ ਹੈ ਸੰਗਿ ॥
ghar baahar teraa bharavaasaa too jan kai hai sa(n)g ||
At home, and outside, I place my trust in You; You are always with Your humble servant.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਉ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ॥੧॥
kar kirapaa preetam prabh apune naam japau har ra(n)g ||1||
Bestow Your Mercy, O my Beloved God, that I may chant the Lord's Name with love. ||1||
ਜਨ ਕਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪਨੇ ਕਾ ਤਾਣੁ ॥
jan kau prabh apane kaa taan ||
God is the strength of His humble servants.
ਜੋ ਤੂ ਕਰਹਿ ਕਰਾਵਹਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਸਾ ਮਸਲਤਿ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jo too karahi karaavahi suaamee saa masalat paravaan || rahaau ||
Whatever You do, or cause to be done, O Lord and Master, that outcome is acceptable to me. ||Pause||
ਪਤਿ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਗਤਿ ਨਾਰਾਇਣੁ ਧਨੁ ਗੁਪਾਲ ਗੁਣ ਸਾਖੀ ॥
pat paramesar gat naaraain dhan gupaal gun saakhee ||
The Transcendent Lord is my honor; the Lord is my emancipation; the glorious sermon of the Lord is my wealth.
ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤੀ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਾਤੀ ॥੨॥੧॥੨੫॥
charan saran naanak daas har har sa(n)tee ih bidh jaatee ||2||1||25||
Slave Nanak seeks the Sanctuary of the Lord's feet; from the Saints, he has learned this way of life. ||2||1||25||

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਗਲ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੇ ਪਾਏ ਕੰਠਿ ਲਾਇ ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ॥
sagal manorath prabh te paae ka(n)th laai gur raakhe ||
God has fulfilled all my desires. Holding me close in His embrace, the Guru has saved me.
ਸੰਸਾਰ ਸਾਗਰ ਮਹਿ ਜਲਨਿ ਨ ਦੀਨੇ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਦੁਤਰੁ ਭਾਖੇ ॥੧॥
sa(n)saar saagar mahi jalan na deene kinai na dutar bhaakhe ||1||
He has saved me from burning in the ocean of fire, and now, no one calls it impassible. ||1||
ਜਿਨ ਕੈ ਮਨਿ ਸਾਚਾ ਬਿਸ੍ਵਾਸੁ ॥
jin kai man saachaa bisvaas ||
Those who have true faith in their minds,
ਪੇਖਿ ਪੇਖਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਆਨਦੁ ਸਦਾ ਉਲਾਸੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pekh pekh suaamee kee sobhaa aanad sadaa ulaas || rahaau ||
continually behold the Glory of the Lord; they are forever happy and blissful. ||Pause||
ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਸਾਖਿਓ ॥
charan saran pooran paramesur a(n)tarajaamee saakhio ||
I seek the Sanctuary of the feet of the Perfect Transcendent Lord, the Searcher of hearts; I behold Him ever-present.
ਜਾਨਿ ਬੂਝਿ ਅਪਨਾ ਕੀਓ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਤਨ ਕਾ ਅੰਕੁਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਓ ॥੨॥੨॥੨੬॥
jaan boojh apanaa keeo naanak bhagatan kaa a(n)kur raakhio ||2||2||26||
In His wisdom, the Lord has made Nanak His own; He has preserved the roots of His devotees. ||2||2||26||

Dhanaasaree, Fifth Mehl:
ਜਹ ਜਹ ਪੇਖਉ ਤਹ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਦੂਰਿ ਕਤਹੁ ਨ ਜਾਈ ॥
jah jah pekhau tah hajoor door katahu na jaaee ||
Wherever I look, there I see Him present; He is never far away.
ਰਵਿ ਰਹਿਆ ਸਰਬਤ੍ਰ ਮੈ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈ ॥੧॥
rav rahiaa sarabatr mai man sadaa dhiaaee ||1||
He is all-pervading, everywhere; O my mind, meditate on Him forever. ||1||
ਈਤ ਊਤ ਨਹੀ ਬੀਛੁੜੈ ਸੋ ਸੰਗੀ ਗਨੀਐ ॥
eet oot nahee beechhuRai so sa(n)gee ganeeai ||
He alone is called your companion, who will not be separated from you, here or hereafter.
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜਾਇ ਜੋ ਨਿਮਖ ਮਹਿ ਸੋ ਅਲਪ ਸੁਖੁ ਭਨੀਐ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
binas jaai jo nimakh mahi so alap sukh bhaneeai || rahaau ||
That pleasure, which passes away in an instant, is trivial. ||Pause||
ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲੈ ਅਪਿਆਉ ਦੇਇ ਕਛੁ ਊਨ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
pratipaalai apiaau dei kachh oon na hoee ||
He cherishes us, and gives us sustenance; He does not lack anything.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਸੰਮਾਲਤਾ ਮੇਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
saas saas sa(n)maalataa meraa prabh soee ||2||
With each and every breath, my God takes care of His creatures. ||2||
ਅਛਲ ਅਛੇਦ ਅਪਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਊਚਾ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਰੂਪੁ ॥
achhal achhed apaar prabh oochaa jaa kaa roop ||
God is undeceiveable, impenetrable and infinite; His form is lofty and exalted.
ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਅਨੰਦੁ ਜਨ ਅਚਰਜ ਆਨੂਪੁ ॥੩॥
jap jap karahi ana(n)d jan acharaj aanoop ||3||
Chanting and meditating on the embodiment of wonder and beauty, His humble servants are in bliss. ||3||
ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਦੇਹੁ ਦਇਆਲ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਿਤੁ ਤੁਮਹਿ ਅਰਾਧਾ ॥
saa mat dehu daiaal prabh jit tumahi araadhaa ||
Bless me with such understanding, O Merciful Lord God, that I might remember You.
