ਪੂਰਨ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥੧॥
pooran paarabraham paramesur mere man sadaa dhiaaeeai ||1||
O my mind, meditate forever on the Perfect, Supreme Lord God, the Transcendent Lord. ||1||
ਸਿਮਰਹੁ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਪਰਾਨੀ ॥
simarahu har har naam paraanee ||
Meditate in remembrance on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, O mortal.
ਬਿਨਸੈ ਕਾਚੀ ਦੇਹ ਅਗਿਆਨੀ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
binasai kaachee deh agiaanee || rahaau ||
Your frail body shall perish, you ignorant fool. ||Pause||
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਅਰੁ ਸੁਪਨ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਕਛੁ ਨ ਵਡਾਈ ॥
mrig trisanaa ar supan manorath taa kee kachh na vadaaee ||
Illusions and dream-objects possess nothing of greatness.
ਰਾਮ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਕਾਮਿ ਨ ਆਵਸਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਕਾਹੂ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
raam bhajan bin kaam na aavas sa(n)g na kaahoo jaaee ||2||
Without meditating on the Lord, nothing succeeds, and nothing will go along with you. ||2||
ਹਉ ਹਉ ਕਰਤ ਬਿਹਾਇ ਅਵਰਦਾ ਜੀਅ ਕੋ ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਕੀਨਾ ॥
hau hau karat bihaai avaradaa jee ko kaam na keenaa ||
Acting in egotism and pride, his life passes away, and he does nothing for his soul.
ਧਾਵਤ ਧਾਵਤ ਨਹ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਸਿਆ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਹੀ ਚੀਨਾ ॥੩॥
dhaavat dhaavat nah tripataasiaa raam naam nahee cheenaa ||3||
Wandering and wandering all around, he is never satisfied; he does not remember the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਸਾਦ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਰਸ ਮਾਤੋ ਅਸੰਖ ਖਤੇ ਕਰਿ ਫੇਰੇ ॥
saad bikaar bikhai ras maato asa(n)kh khate kar phere ||
Intoxicated with the taste of corruption, cruel pleasures and countless sins, he is consigned to the cycle of reincarnation.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪਾਹਿ ਬਿਨੰਤੀ ਕਾਟਹੁ ਅਵਗੁਣ ਮੇਰੇ ॥੪॥੧੧॥੨੨॥
naanak kee prabh paahi bina(n)tee kaatahu avagun mere ||4||11||22||
Nanak offers his prayer to God, to eradicate his demerits. ||4||11||22||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਅਬਿਨਾਸੀ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
gun gaavahu pooran abinaasee kaam krodh bikh jaare ||
Sing the Glorious Praises of the Perfect, Imperishable Lord, and the poison of sexual desire and anger shall be burnt away.
ਮਹਾ ਬਿਖਮੁ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੋ ਸਾਗਰੁ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ॥੧॥
mahaa bikham agan ko saagar saadhoo sa(n)g udhaare ||1||
You shall cross over the awesome, arduous ocean of fire, in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||
ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਟਿਓ ਭਰਮੁ ਅੰਧੇਰਾ ॥
poorai gur metio bharam a(n)dheraa ||
The Perfect Guru has dispelled the darkness of doubt.
ਭਜੁ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਗਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨੇਰਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bhaj prem bhagat prabh neraa || rahaau ||
Remember God with love and devotion; He is near at hand. ||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਰਹੇ ਅਘਾਈ ॥
har har naam nidhaan ras peeaa man tan rahe aghaaee ||
Drink in the sublime essence, the treasure of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, and your mind and body shall remain satisfied.
ਜਤ ਕਤ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੁ ਕਤ ਆਵੈ ਕਤ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
jat kat poor rahio paramesar kat aavai kat jaaee ||2||
The Transcendent Lord is totally permeating and pervading everywhere; where would He come from, and where would He go? ||2||
ਜਪ ਤਪ ਸੰਜਮ ਗਿਆਨ ਤਤ ਬੇਤਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਗੋੁਪਾਲਾ ॥
jap tap sa(n)jam giaan tat betaa jis man vasai goupaalaa ||
One whose mind is filled with the Lord, is a person of meditation, penance, self-restraint and spiritual wisdom, and a knower of reality.
ਨਾਮੁ ਰਤਨੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਇਆ ਤਾ ਕੀ ਪੂਰਨ ਘਾਲਾ ॥੩॥
naam ratan jin guramukh paaiaa taa kee pooran ghaalaa ||3||
The Gurmukh obtains the jewel of the Naam; his efforts come to perfect fruition. ||3||
ਕਲਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਮਿਟੇ ਦੁਖ ਸਗਲੇ ਕਾਟੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸਾ ॥
kal kales mite dukh sagale kaatee jam kee phaasaa ||
All his struggles, sufferings and pains are dispelled, and the noose of death is cut away from him.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਧਾਰੀ ਮਨ ਤਨ ਭਏ ਬਿਗਾਸਾ ॥੪॥੧੨॥੨੩॥
kahu naanak prabh kirapaa dhaaree man tan bhae bigaasaa ||4||12||23||
Says Nanak, God has extended His Mercy, and so his mind and body blossom forth. ||4||12||23||

Sorat'h, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਰਣ ਕਰਾਵਣਹਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
karan karaavanahaar prabh daataa paarabraham prabh suaamee ||
God is the Doer, the Cause of causes, the Great Giver; God is the Supreme Lord and Master.
ਸਗਲੇ ਜੀਅ ਕੀਏ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥੧॥
sagale jee keee daiaalaa so prabh a(n)tarajaamee ||1||
The Merciful Lord created all beings; God is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||1||
ਮੇਰਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਹੋਆ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
meraa gur hoaa aap sahaaee ||
My Guru is Himself my friend and support.
ਸੂਖ ਸਹਜ ਆਨੰਦ ਮੰਗਲ ਰਸ ਅਚਰਜ ਭਈ ਬਡਾਈ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sookh sahaj aana(n)d ma(n)gal ras acharaj bhaee badaaee || rahaau ||
I am in celestial peace, bliss, joy, pleasure and wondrous glory. ||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਪਏ ਭੈ ਨਾਸੇ ਸਾਚੀ ਦਰਗਹ ਮਾਨੇ ॥
gur kee saran pae bhai naase saachee daragah maane ||
Seeking the Sanctuary of the Guru, my fears have been dispelled, and I am accepted in the Court of the True Lord.
ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਤ ਆਰਾਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਹਰਿ ਆਏ ਅਪੁਨੈ ਥਾਨੇ ॥੨॥
gun gaavat aaraadh naam har aae apunai thaane ||2||
Singing His Glorious Praises, and worshipping in adoration the Name of the Lord, I have reached my destination. ||2||
ਜੈ ਜੈ ਕਾਰੁ ਕਰੈ ਸਭ ਉਸਤਤਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸਾਧ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥
jai jai kaar karai sabh usatat sa(n)gat saadh piaaree ||
Everyone applauds and congratulates me; the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, is dear to me.
ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰਿ ਜਾਉ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਪੈਜ ਸਵਾਰੀ ॥੩॥
sad balihaar jaau prabh apune jin pooran paij savaaree ||3||
I am forever a sacrifice to my God, who has totally protected and preserved my honor. ||3||
ਗੋਸਟਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੁਣਿ ਉਧਰੇ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
gosat giaan naam sun udhare jin jin darasan paaiaa ||
They are saved, who receive the Blessed Vision of His Darshan; they listen to the spiritual dialogue of the Naam.
ਭਇਓ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਅਨਦ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਆਇਆ ॥੪॥੧੩॥੨੪॥
bhaio kripaal naanak prabh apunaa anad setee ghar aaiaa ||4||13||24||
Nanak's God has become Merciful to him; he has arrived home in ecstasy. ||4||13||24||

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਿ ਸਗਲ ਭੈ ਲਾਥੇ ਦੁਖ ਬਿਨਸੇ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
prabh kee saran sagal bhai laathe dukh binase sukh paaiaa ||
In God's Sanctuary, all fears depart, suffering disappears, and peace is obtained.
ਦਇਆਲੁ ਹੋਆ ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਪੂਰਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥੧॥
daiaal hoaa paarabraham suaamee pooraa satigur dhiaaiaa ||1||
When the Supreme Lord God and Master becomes merciful, we meditate on the Perfect True Guru. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੀਉ ਤੂ ਮੇਰੋ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਦਾਤਾ ॥
prabh jeeu too mero saahib daataa ||
O Dear God, You are my Lord Master and Great Giver.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਉ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh deen daiaalaa gun gaavau ra(n)g raataa || rahaau ||
By Your Mercy, O God, Merciful to the meek, imbue me with Your Love, that I might sing Your Glorious Praises. ||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਆ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੀ ॥
satigur naam nidhaan driRaaiaa chi(n)taa sagal binaasee ||
The True Guru has implanted the treasure of the Naam within me, and all my anxieties have been dispelled.
