ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾ ਧਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਈ ਪਿਰੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਦਾ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
naanak saa dhan milai milaaee pir a(n)tar sadaa samaale ||
O Nanak, that soul-bride is united in Union; she cherishes her Beloved Husband forever, deep within herself.
ਇਕਿ ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀਆ ਅੰਧੀ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੪॥੨॥
ik rovahi pirahi vichhu(n)neeaa a(n)dhee na jaanai pir hai naale ||4||2||
Some weep and wail, separated from their Husband Lord; the blind ones do not know that their Husband is with them. ||4||2||

ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਿਰਹਿ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀਆ ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚੜਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥
rovahi pirahi vichhu(n)neeaa mai pir sachaRaa hai sadaa naale ||
Those who are separated from their Beloved Husband Lord weep and wail, but my True Husband Lord is always with me.
ਜਿਨੀ ਚਲਣੁ ਸਹੀ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ॥
jinee chalan sahee jaaniaa satigur sevahi naam samaale ||
Those who know that they must depart, serve the True Guru, and dwell upon the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਦਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਹੈ ਨਾਲੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
sadaa naam samaale satigur hai naale satigur sev sukh paaiaa ||
They dwell constantly upon the Naam, and the True Guru is with them; they serve the True Guru, and so obtain peace.
ਸਬਦੇ ਕਾਲੁ ਮਾਰਿ ਸਚੁ ਉਰਿ ਧਾਰਿ ਫਿਰਿ ਆਵਣ ਜਾਣੁ ਨ ਹੋਇਆ ॥
sabade kaal maar sach ur dhaar phir aavan jaan na hoiaa ||
Through the Shabad, they kill death, and enshrine the True Lord within their hearts; they shall not have to come and go again.
ਸਚਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਚੀ ਨਾਈ ਵੇਖੈ ਨਦਰਿ ਨਿਹਾਲੇ ॥
sachaa saahib sachee naaee vekhai nadar nihaale ||
True is the Lord and Master, and True is His Name; bestowing His Gracious Glance, one is enraptured.
ਰੋਵਹਿ ਪਿਰਹੁ ਵਿਛੁੰਨੀਆ ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚੜਾ ਹੈ ਸਦਾ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੧॥

prabh meraa saahib sabh doo oochaa hai kiv milaa(n) preetam piaare ||
God, my Lord and Master, is the highest of all; how can I meet my Dear Beloved?
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮੇਲੀ ਤਾਂ ਸਹਜਿ ਮਿਲੀ ਪਿਰੁ ਰਾਖਿਆ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ॥
satigur melee taa(n) sahaj milee pir raakhiaa ur dhaare ||
When the True Guru united me, then I was naturally united with my Husband Lord, and now, I keep Him clasped to my heart.
ਸਦਾ ਉਰ ਧਾਰੇ ਨੇਹੁ ਨਾਲਿ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਤੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਦਿਸੈ ॥
sadaa ur dhaare nehu naal piaare satigur te pir disai ||
I constantly, lovingly cherish my Beloved within my heart; through the True Guru, I see my Beloved.
ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹ ਕਾ ਕਚਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਪੈਧੈ ਪਗੁ ਖਿਸੈ ॥
maaiaa moh kaa kachaa cholaa tit paidhai pag khisai ||
The cloak of Maya's love is false; wearing it, one slips and loses his footing.
ਪਿਰ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਚੋਲਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਪੈਧੈ ਤਿਖਾ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
pir ra(n)g raataa so sachaa cholaa tit paidhai tikhaa nivaare ||
That cloak is true, which is dyed in the color of the Love of my Beloved; wearing it, my inner thirst is quenched.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਭ ਦੂ ਊਚਾ ਹੈ ਕਿਉ ਮਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਪਿਆਰੇ ॥੨॥

mai prabh sach pachhaaniaa hor bhoolee avaganiaare ||
I have realized my True Lord God, while the other worthless ones have gone astray.
ਮੈ ਸਦਾ ਰਾਵੇ ਪਿਰੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਚੜੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ॥
mai sadaa raave pir aapanaa sachaRai sabad veechaare ||
I dwell constantly upon my Beloved Husband Lord, and reflect upon the True Word of the Shabad.
ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਵੀਚਾਰੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਨਾਰੇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
sachai sabad veechaare ra(n)g raatee naare mil satigur preetam paaiaa ||
The bride reflects upon the True Shabad, and is imbued with His Love; she meets with the True Guru, and finds her Beloved.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੀ ਸਹਜੇ ਮਾਤੀ ਗਇਆ ਦੁਸਮਨੁ ਦੂਖੁ ਸਬਾਇਆ ॥
a(n)tar ra(n)g raatee sahaje maatee gaiaa dusaman dookh sabaaiaa ||
Deep within, she is imbued with His Love, and intoxicated with delight; her enemies and sufferings are all taken away.
ਅਪਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੰਉ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਦੀਜੈ ਤਾਂ ਮਨੁ ਭੀਜੈ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਦੂਖ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
apane gur ka(n)u tan man deejai taa(n) man bheejai trisanaa dookh nivaare ||
Surrender body and soul to your Guru, and then you shall become happy; your thirst and pain shall be taken away.
ਮੈ ਪਿਰੁ ਸਚੁ ਪਛਾਣਿਆ ਹੋਰ ਭੂਲੀ ਅਵਗਣਿਆਰੇ ॥੩॥
mai pir sach pachhaaniaa hor bhoolee avaganiaare ||3||
I have realized my True Lord God, while the other worthless ones have gone astray. ||3||
ਸਚੜੈ ਆਪਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੋ ॥
sachaRai aap jagat upaaiaa gur bin ghor a(n)dhaaro ||
The True Lord Himself created the world; without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness.
ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਏ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
aap milaae aap milai aape dei piaaro ||
He Himself unites, and causes us to unite with Him; He Himself blesses us with His Love.
ਆਪੇ ਦੇਇ ਪਿਆਰੋ ਸਹਜਿ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਵਾਰੇ ॥
aape dei piaaro sahaj vaapaaro guramukh janam savaare ||
He Himself blesses us with His Love, and deals in celestial peace; the life of the Gurmukh is reformed.
ਧਨੁ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਆਇਆ ਆਪੁ ਗਵਾਇਆ ਦਰਿ ਸਾਚੈ ਸਚਿਆਰੋ ॥
dhan jag mahi aaiaa aap gavaaiaa dar saachai sachiaaro ||
Blessed is his coming into the world; he banishes his self-conceit, and is acclaimed as true in the Court of the True Lord.
ਗਿਆਨਿ ਰਤਨਿ ਘਟਿ ਚਾਨਣੁ ਹੋਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਪਿਆਰੋ ॥
giaan ratan ghat chaanan hoaa naanak naam piaaro ||
The light of the jewel of spiritual wisdom shines within his heart, O Nanak, and he loves the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਸਚੜੈ ਆਪਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਰ ਬਿਨੁ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੋ ॥੪॥੩॥

ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਜਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਜਰੁ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਏ ॥
ihu sareer jajaree hai is no jar pahuchai aae ||
This body is frail; old age is overtaking it.
ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹੋਰੁ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
gur raakhe se ubare hor mar ja(n)mai aavai jaae ||
Those who are protected by the Guru are saved, while others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going.
ਹੋਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
hor mar ja(n)mahi aavahi jaavahi a(n)t gae pachhutaavahi bin naavai sukh na hoee ||
Others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going, and in the end, they depart regretfully. Without the Name, there is no peace.
ਐਥੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥
aithai kamaavai so phal paavai manamukh hai pat khoee ||
As one acts here, so does he obtain his rewards; the self-willed manmukh loses his honor.
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਨਾ ਤਿਥੈ ਭੈਣ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
jam pur ghor a(n)dhaar mahaa gubaar naa tithai bhain na bhaaee ||
In the City of Death, there is pitch darkness, and huge clouds of dust; neither sister nor brother is there.
ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਜਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਜਰੁ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਈ ॥੧॥
ihu sareer jajaree hai is no jar pahuchai aaee ||1||

ਕਾਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਤਾਂ ਥੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥

The body becomes like gold, when the True Guru unites one with Himself.
