ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਦਾਸ ਦਾਸ ਕੋ ਕਰੀਅਹੁ ਮੇਰਾ ਮੂੰਡੁ ਸਾਧ ਪਗਾ ਹੇਠਿ ਰੁਲਸੀ ਰੇ ॥੨॥੪॥੩੭॥
jan naanak daas daas ko kareeahu meraa moo(n)d saadh pagaa heth rulasee re ||2||4||37||
Make servant Nanak the slave of Your slave; let his head roll in the dust under the feet of the Holy. ||2||4||37||

ਸਭ ਦਿਨ ਕੇ ਸਮਰਥ ਪੰਥ ਬਿਠੁਲੇ ਹਉ ਬਲਿ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਉ ॥
sabh din ke samarath pa(n)th bithule hau bal bal jaau ||
You are all-powerful, at all times; You show me the Way; I am a sacrifice, a sacrifice to You.
ਗਾਵਨ ਭਾਵਨ ਸੰਤਨ ਤੋਰੈ ਚਰਨ ਉਵਾ ਕੈ ਪਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
gaavan bhaavan sa(n)tan torai charan uvaa kai paau ||1|| rahaau ||
Your Saints sing to You with love; I fall at their feet. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾਸਨ ਬਾਸਨ ਸਹਜ ਕੇਲ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਏਕ ਅਨੰਤ ਅਨੂਪੈ ਠਾਉ ॥੧॥
jaasan baasan sahaj kel karunaa mai ek ana(n)t anoopai thaau ||1||
O Praiseworthy Lord, Enjoyer of celestial peace, Embodiment of mercy, One Infinite Lord, Your place is so beautiful. ||1||
ਰਿਧਿ ਸਿਧਿ ਨਿਧਿ ਕਰ ਤਲ ਜਗਜੀਵਨ ਸ੍ਰਬ ਨਾਥ ਅਨੇਕੈ ਨਾਉ ॥
ridh sidh nidh kar tal jagajeevan srab naath anekai naau ||
Riches, supernatural spiritual powers and wealth are in the palm of Your hand. O Lord, Life of the World, Master of all, infinite is Your Name.
ਦਇਆ ਮਇਆ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਉ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਜਸੁ ਜੀਵਾਉ ॥੨॥੧॥੩੮॥੬॥੪੪॥
daiaa maiaa kirapaa naanak kau sun sun jas jeevaau ||2||1||38||6||44||

ਯਹ ਮਨੁ ਨੈਕ ਨ ਕਹਿਓ ਕਰੈ ॥
yah man naik na kahio karai ||
This mind does not follow my advice one tiny bit.
ਸੀਖ ਸਿਖਾਇ ਰਹਿਓ ਅਪਨੀ ਸੀ ਦੁਰਮਤਿ ਤੇ ਨ ਟਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
seekh sikhaai rahio apanee see duramat te na tarai ||1|| rahaau ||
I am so tired of giving it instructions - it will not refrain from its evil-mindedness. ||1||Pause||
ਮਦਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ਭਇਓ ਬਾਵਰੋ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਨਹਿ ਉਚਰੈ ॥
mad maaiaa kai bhaio baavaro har jas nahi ucharai ||
It has gone insane with the intoxication of Maya; it does not chant the Lord's Praise.
ਕਰਿ ਪਰਪੰਚੁ ਜਗਤ ਕਉ ਡਹਕੈ ਅਪਨੋ ਉਦਰੁ ਭਰੈ ॥੧॥
kar parapa(n)ch jagat kau dahakai apano udar bharai ||1||
Practicing deception, it tries to cheat the world, and so it fills its belly. ||1||
ਸੁਆਨ ਪੂਛ ਜਿਉ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਸੂਧੋ ਕਹਿਓ ਨ ਕਾਨ ਧਰੈ ॥
suaan poochh jiu hoi na soodho kahio na kaan dharai ||
Like a dog's tail, it cannot be straightened; it will not listen to what I tell it.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਤ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਕਾਜੁ ਸਰੈ ॥੨॥੧॥
kahu naanak bhaj raam naam nit jaa te kaaj sarai ||2||1||
Says Nanak, vibrate forever the Name of the Lord, and all your affairs shall be adjusted. ||2||1||

ਸਭ ਕਿਛੁ ਜੀਵਤ ਕੋ ਬਿਵਹਾਰ ॥
sabh kichh jeevat ko bivahaar ||
All things are mere diversions of life:
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਭਾਈ ਸੁਤ ਬੰਧਪ ਅਰੁ ਫੁਨਿ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਕੀ ਨਾਰਿ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maat pitaa bhaaee sut ba(n)dhap ar phun grih kee naar ||1|| rahaau ||
mother, father, siblings, children, relatives and the wife of your home. ||1||Pause||
ਤਨ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਹੋਤ ਜਬ ਨਿਆਰੇ ਟੇਰਤ ਪ੍ਰੇਤਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ॥
tan te praan hot jab niaare terat pret pukaar ||
When the soul is separated from the body, then they will cry out, calling you a ghost.
ਆਧ ਘਰੀ ਕੋਊ ਨਹਿ ਰਾਖੈ ਘਰ ਤੇ ਦੇਤ ਨਿਕਾਰਿ ॥੧॥
aadh gharee kooo nahi raakhai ghar te det nikaar ||1||
No one will let you stay, for even half an hour; they drive you out of the house. ||1||
ਮ੍ਰਿਗ ਤ੍ਰਿਸਨਾ ਜਿਉ ਜਗ ਰਚਨਾ ਯਹ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਬਿਚਾਰਿ ॥
mrig trisanaa jiu jag rachanaa yah dekhahu ridai bichaar ||
The created world is like an illusion, a mirage - see this, and reflect upon it in your mind.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਨਿਤ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੨॥੨॥
kahu naanak bhaj raam naam nit jaa te hot udhaar ||2||2||
Says Nanak, vibrate forever the Name of the Lord, which shall deliver you. ||2||2||

ਜਗਤ ਮੈ ਝੂਠੀ ਦੇਖੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
jagat mai jhoothee dekhee preet ||
In this world, I have seen love to be false.
ਅਪਨੇ ਹੀ ਸੁਖ ਸਿਉ ਸਭ ਲਾਗੇ ਕਿਆ ਦਾਰਾ ਕਿਆ ਮੀਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
apane hee sukh siu sabh laage kiaa daaraa kiaa meet ||1|| rahaau ||
Whether they are spouses or friends, all are concerned only with their own happiness. ||1||Pause||
ਮੇਰਉ ਮੇਰਉ ਸਭੈ ਕਹਤ ਹੈ ਹਿਤ ਸਿਉ ਬਾਧਿਓ ਚੀਤ ॥
merau merau sabhai kahat hai hit siu baadhio cheet ||
All say, "Mine, mine", and attach their consciousness to you with love.
ਅੰਤਿ ਕਾਲਿ ਸੰਗੀ ਨਹ ਕੋਊ ਇਹ ਅਚਰਜ ਹੈ ਰੀਤਿ ॥੧॥
a(n)t kaal sa(n)gee nah kooo ih acharaj hai reet ||1||
But at the very last moment, none shall go along with you. How strange are the ways of the world! ||1||
ਮਨ ਮੂਰਖ ਅਜਹੂ ਨਹ ਸਮਝਤ ਸਿਖ ਦੈ ਹਾਰਿਓ ਨੀਤ ॥
man moorakh ajahoo nah samajhat sikh dai haario neet ||
The foolish mind has not yet reformed itself, although I have grown weary of continually instructing it.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭਉਜਲੁ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰੈ ਜਉ ਗਾਵੈ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੇ ਗੀਤ ॥੨॥੩॥੬॥੩੮॥੪੭॥
naanak bhaujal paar parai jau gaavai prabh ke geet ||2||3||6||38||47||
O Nanak, one crosses over the terrifying world-ocean, singing the Songs of God. ||2||3||6||38||47||
