Pauree:
ਠਠਾ ਮਨੂਆ ਠਾਹਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ॥
thathaa manooaa thaahahi naahee ||
T'HAT'HA: Those who have abandoned all else,
ਜੋ ਸਗਲ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਏਕਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਹੀ ॥
jo sagal tiaag ekahi lapataahee ||
and who cling to the One Lord alone, do not make trouble for anyone's mind.
ਠਹਕਿ ਠਹਕਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਸੰਗਿ ਮੂਏ ॥
thahak thahak maaiaa sa(n)g mooe ||
Those who are totally absorbed and preoccupied with Maya are dead;
ਉਆ ਕੈ ਕੁਸਲ ਨ ਕਤਹੂ ਹੂਏ ॥
uaa kai kusal na katahoo hooe ||
they do not find happiness anywhere.
ਠਾਂਢਿ ਪਰੀ ਸੰਤਹ ਸੰਗਿ ਬਸਿਆ ॥
thaa(n)dh paree sa(n)tah sa(n)g basiaa ||
One who dwells in the Society of the Saints finds a great peace;
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਤਹਾ ਜੀਅ ਰਸਿਆ ॥
a(n)mrit naam tahaa jee rasiaa ||
the Ambrosial Nectar of the Naam becomes sweet to his soul.
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਜੋ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਇਆ ॥
thaakur apune jo jan bhaaiaa ||
That humble being, who is pleasing to his Lord and Master
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਆ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਸੀਤਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੮॥
naanak uaa kaa man seetalaaiaa ||28||
- O Nanak, his mind is cooled and soothed. ||28||

Salok:
ਡੰਡਉਤਿ ਬੰਦਨ ਅਨਿਕ ਬਾਰ ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਸਮਰਥ ॥
da(n)daut ba(n)dan anik baar sarab kalaa samarath ||
I bow down, and fall to the ground in humble adoration, countless times, to the All-powerful Lord, who possesses all powers.
ਡੋਲਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਾਨਕ ਦੇ ਕਰਿ ਹਥ ॥੧॥
dolan te raakhahu prabhoo naanak de kar hath ||1||
Please protect me, and save me from wandering, God. Reach out and give Nanak Your Hand. ||1||

Pauree:
ਡਡਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਇਹੁ ਨਹੀ ਜਹ ਡੇਰਾ ਤਹ ਜਾਨੁ ॥
dadaa deraa ihu nahee jah deraa tah jaan ||
DADDA: This is not your true place; you must know where that place really is.
ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਾ ਸੰਜਮੋ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪਛਾਨੁ ॥
uaa deraa kaa sa(n)jamo gur kai sabad pachhaan ||
You shall come to realize the way to that place, through the Word of the Guru's Shabad.
ਇਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕਉ ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਘਾਲੈ ॥
iaa deraa kau sram kar ghaalai ||
This place, here, is established by hard work,
ਜਾ ਕਾ ਤਸੂ ਨਹੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਚਾਲੈ ॥
jaa kaa tasoo nahee sa(n)g chaalai ||
but not one iota of this shall go there with you.
ਉਆ ਡੇਰਾ ਕੀ ਸੋ ਮਿਤਿ ਜਾਨੈ ॥
uaa deraa kee so mit jaanai ||
The value of that place beyond is known only to those,
ਜਾ ਕਉ ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਭਗਵਾਨੈ ॥
jaa kau drisat pooran bhagavaanai ||
upon whom the Perfect Lord God casts His Glance of Grace.
ਡੇਰਾ ਨਿਹਚਲੁ ਸਚੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
deraa nihachal sach saadhasa(n)g paaiaa ||
That permanent and true place is obtained in the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy;
ਨਾਨਕ ਤੇ ਜਨ ਨਹ ਡੋਲਾਇਆ ॥੨੯॥
naanak te jan nah dolaaiaa ||29||
O Nanak, those humble beings do not waver or wander. ||29||

Salok:
ਢਾਹਨ ਲਾਗੇ ਧਰਮ ਰਾਇ ਕਿਨਹਿ ਨ ਘਾਲਿਓ ਬੰਧ ॥
dhaahan laage dharam raai kinahi na ghaalio ba(n)dh ||
When the Righteous Judge of Dharma begins to destroy someone, no one can place any obstacle in His Way.
ਨਾਨਕ ਉਬਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੀ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸਨਬੰਧ ॥੧॥
naanak ubare jap haree saadhasa(n)g sanaba(n)dh ||1||
O Nanak, those who join the Saadh Sangat and meditate on the Lord are saved. ||1||

Pauree:
ਢਢਾ ਢੂਢਤ ਕਹ ਫਿਰਹੁ ਢੂਢਨੁ ਇਆ ਮਨ ਮਾਹਿ ॥
dhadhaa dhoodhat kah phirahu dhoodhan iaa man maahi ||
DHADHA: Where are you going, wandering and searching? Search instead within your own mind.
ਸੰਗਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬਸੈ ਬਨੁ ਬਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਫਿਰਾਹਿ ॥
sa(n)g tuhaarai prabh basai ban ban kahaa phiraahi ||
God is with you, so why do you wander around from forest to forest?
ਢੇਰੀ ਢਾਹਹੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਅਹੰਬੁਧਿ ਬਿਕਰਾਲ ॥
dheree dhaahahu saadhasa(n)g aha(n)budh bikaraal ||
In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, tear down the mound of your frightful, egotistical pride.
ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਸਹਜੇ ਬਸਹੁ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਦੇਖਿ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥
sukh paavahu sahaje basahu darasan dekh nihaal ||
You shall find peace, and abide in intuitive bliss; gazing upon the Blessed Vision of God's Darshan, you shall be delighted.
ਢੇਰੀ ਜਾਮੈ ਜਮਿ ਮਰੈ ਗਰਭ ਜੋਨਿ ਦੁਖ ਪਾਇ ॥
dheree jaamai jam marai garabh jon dukh paai ||
One who has such a mound as this, dies and suffers the pain of reincarnation through the womb.
ਮੋਹ ਮਗਨ ਲਪਟਤ ਰਹੈ ਹਉ ਹਉ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਇ ॥
moh magan lapatat rahai hau hau aavai jaai ||
One who is intoxicated by emotional attachment, entangled in egotism, selfishness and conceit, shall continue coming and going in reincarnation.
ਢਹਤ ਢਹਤ ਅਬ ਢਹਿ ਪਰੇ ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾ ਸਰਨਾਇ ॥
dhahat dhahat ab dhahi pare saadh janaa saranaai ||
Slowly and steadily, I have now surrendered to the Holy Saints; I have come to their Sanctuary.
ਦੁਖ ਕੇ ਫਾਹੇ ਕਾਟਿਆ ਨਾਨਕ ਲੀਏ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੩੦॥
dukh ke phaahe kaatiaa naanak leee samaai ||30||
God has cut away the noose of my pain; O Nanak, He has merged me into Himself. ||30||

Salok:
ਜਹ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਭਜਨੁ ਕੀਰਤਨੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨੀਤ ॥
jah saadhoo gobid bhajan keeratan naanak neet ||
Where the Holy people constantly vibrate the Kirtan of the Praises of the Lord of the Universe, O Nanak
ਣਾ ਹਉ ਣਾ ਤੂੰ ਣਹ ਛੁਟਹਿ ਨਿਕਟਿ ਨ ਜਾਈਅਹੁ ਦੂਤ ॥੧॥
naa hau naa too(n) nah chhutahi nikat na jaaeeahu doot ||1||
- the Righteous Judge says, "Do not approach that place, O Messenger of Death, or else neither you nor I shall escape!" ||1||

Pauree:
ਣਾਣਾ ਰਣ ਤੇ ਸੀਝੀਐ ਆਤਮ ਜੀਤੈ ਕੋਇ ॥
naanaa ran te seejheeai aatam jeetai koi ||
NANNA: One who conquers his own soul, wins the battle of life.
ਹਉਮੈ ਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਲਰਿ ਮਰੈ ਸੋ ਸੋਭਾ ਦੂ ਹੋਇ ॥
haumai an siu lar marai so sobhaa doo hoi ||
One who dies, while fighting against egotism and alienation, becomes sublime and beautiful.
ਮਣੀ ਮਿਟਾਇ ਜੀਵਤ ਮਰੈ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥
manee mitaai jeevat marai gur poore upades ||
One who eradicates his ego, remains dead while yet alive, through the Teachings of the Perfect Guru.
ਮਨੂਆ ਜੀਤੈ ਹਰਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਤਿਹ ਸੂਰਤਣ ਵੇਸ ॥
manooaa jeetai har milai tih sooratan ves ||
He conquers his mind, and meets the Lord; he is dressed in robes of honor.
ਣਾ ਕੋ ਜਾਣੈ ਆਪਣੋ ਏਕਹਿ ਟੇਕ ਅਧਾਰ ॥
naa ko jaanai aapano ekahi tek adhaar ||
He does not claim anything as his own; the One Lord is his Anchor and Support.
ਰੈਣਿ ਦਿਣਸੁ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਰਹੈ ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਅਪਾਰ ॥
rain dinas simarat rahai so prabh purakh apaar ||
Night and day, he continually contemplates the Almighty, Infinite Lord God.
ਰੇਣ ਸਗਲ ਇਆ ਮਨੁ ਕਰੈ ਏਊ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਇ ॥
ren sagal iaa man karai eoo karam kamaai ||
He makes his mind the dust of all; such is the karma of the deeds he does.
ਹੁਕਮੈ ਬੂਝੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਪਾਇ ॥੩੧॥
hukamai boojhai sadaa sukh naanak likhiaa paai ||31||
Understanding the Hukam of the Lord's Command, he attains everlasting peace. O Nanak, such is his pre-ordained destiny. ||31||
ਸਲੋਕੁ ॥

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਅਰਪਉ ਤਿਸੈ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਮੋਹਿ ॥
tan man dhan arapau tisai prabhoo milaavai mohi ||
I offer my body, mind and wealth to anyone who can unite me with God.
ਨਾਨਕ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਭਉ ਕਾਟੀਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਜੋਹ ॥੧॥
naanak bhram bhau kaateeai chookai jam kee joh ||1||
O Nanak, my doubts and fears have been dispelled, and the Messenger of Death does not see me any longer. ||1||

ਤਤਾ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਕਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਨਿਧਿ ਗੋਬਿਦ ਰਾਇ ॥
tataa taa siu preet kar gun nidh gobid raai ||
TATTA: Embrace love for the Treasure of Excellence, the Sovereign Lord of the Universe.
ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਨ ਬਾਛਤੇ ਤਪਤਿ ਤੁਹਾਰੀ ਜਾਇ ॥
phal paavahi man baachhate tapat tuhaaree jaai ||
You shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires, and your burning thirst shall be quenched.
