ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਤੇ ਛੋਟ ॥੧॥
sa(n)t prasaad janam maran te chhot ||1||
By the Grace of the Saints, one is released from birth and death. ||1||
ਸੰਤ ਕਾ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਇਸਨਾਨੁ ॥
sa(n)t kaa daras pooran isanaan ||
The Blessed Vision of the Saints is the perfect cleansing bath.
ਸੰਤ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਤੇ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਾਮੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sa(n)t kripaa te japeeai naam ||1|| rahaau ||
By the Grace of the Saints, one comes to chant the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸੰਤ ਕੈ ਸੰਗਿ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੁ ॥
sa(n)t kai sa(n)g mitiaa aha(n)kaar ||
In the Society of the Saints, egotism is shed,
ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਿ ਆਵੈ ਸਭੁ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੁ ॥੨॥
drisat aavai sabh eka(n)kaar ||2||
and the One Lord is seen everywhere. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਸੁਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਆਏ ਵਸਿ ਪੰਚਾ ॥
sa(n)t suprasa(n)n aae vas pa(n)chaa ||
By the pleasure of the Saints, the five passions are overpowered,
ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਿਦੈ ਲੈ ਸੰਚਾ ॥੩॥
a(n)mrit naam ridai lai sa(n)chaa ||3||
and the heart is irrigated with the Ambrosial Naam. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਪੂਰਾ ਕਰਮ ॥
kahu naanak jaa kaa pooraa karam ||
Says Nanak, one whose karma is perfect,
ਤਿਸੁ ਭੇਟੇ ਸਾਧੂ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ॥੪॥੪੬॥੧੧੫॥
tis bhete saadhoo ke charan ||4||46||115||
touches the feet of the Holy. ||4||46||115||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਜਪਤ ਕਮਲੁ ਪਰਗਾਸੈ ॥
har gun japat kamal paragaasai ||
Meditating on the Glories of the Lord, the heart-lotus blossoms radiantly.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੈ ॥੧॥
har simarat traas sabh naasai ||1||
Remembering the Lord in meditation, all fears are dispelled. ||1||
ਸਾ ਮਤਿ ਪੂਰੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
saa mat pooree jit har gun gaavai ||
Perfect is that intellect, by which the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung.
ਵਡੈ ਭਾਗਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਸੰਗੁ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
vadai bhaag saadhoo sa(n)g paavai ||1|| rahaau ||
By great good fortune, one finds the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪਾਈਐ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥
saadhasa(n)g paaeeai nidh naamaa ||
In the Saadh Sangat, the treasure of the Name is obtained.
ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਪੂਰਨ ਸਭਿ ਕਾਮਾ ॥੨॥
saadhasa(n)g pooran sabh kaamaa ||2||
In the Saadh Sangat, all one's works are brought to fruition. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਜਨਮੁ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
har kee bhagat janam paravaan ||
Through devotion to the Lord, one's life is approved.
ਗੁਰ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਤੇ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਖਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
gur kirapaa te naam vakhaan ||3||
By Guru's Grace, one chants the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥
kahu naanak so jan paravaan ||
Says Nanak, that humble being is accepted,
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਰਿਦੈ ਵਸੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੪॥੪੭॥੧੧੬॥
jaa kai ridai vasai bhagavaan ||4||47||116||
within whose heart the Lord God abides. ||4||47||116||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਏਕਸੁ ਸਿਉ ਜਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਰਾਤਾ ॥
ekas siu jaa kaa man raataa ||
Those whose minds are imbued with the One Lord,
ਵਿਸਰੀ ਤਿਸੈ ਪਰਾਈ ਤਾਤਾ ॥੧॥
visaree tisai paraaee taataa ||1||
forget to feel jealous of others. ||1||
ਬਿਨੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨ ਦੀਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
bin gobi(n)d na deesai koee ||
They see none other than the Lord of the Universe.
ਕਰਨ ਕਰਾਵਨ ਕਰਤਾ ਸੋਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
karan karaavan karataa soee ||1|| rahaau ||
The Creator is the Doer, the Cause of causes. ||1||Pause||
ਮਨਹਿ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਮੁਖਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੋਲੈ ॥
manahi kamaavai mukh har har bolai ||
Those who work willingly, and chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har
ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਇਤ ਉਤ ਕਤਹਿ ਨ ਡੋਲੈ ॥੨॥
so jan it ut katahi na dolai ||2||
- they do not waver, here or hereafter. ||2||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਸੋ ਸਚ ਸਾਹੁ ॥
jaa kai har dhan so sach saahu ||
Those who possess the wealth of the Lord are the true bankers.
ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਕਰਿ ਦੀਨੋ ਵਿਸਾਹੁ ॥੩॥
gur poorai kar deeno visaahu ||3||
The Perfect Guru has established their line of credit. ||3||
ਜੀਵਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥
jeevan purakh miliaa har raaiaa ||
The Giver of life, the Sovereign Lord King meets them.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਪਰਮ ਪਦੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੪॥੪੮॥੧੧੭॥
kahu naanak param pad paaiaa ||4||48||117||
Says Nanak, they attain the supreme status. ||4||48||117||

Gauree, Fifth Mehl:
ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰੁ ॥
naam bhagat kai praan adhaar ||
The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Support of the breath of life of His devotees.
ਨਾਮੋ ਧਨੁ ਨਾਮੋ ਬਿਉਹਾਰੁ ॥੧॥
naamo dhan naamo biuhaar ||1||
The Naam is their wealth, the Naam is their occupation. ||1||
ਨਾਮ ਵਡਾਈ ਜਨੁ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਏ ॥
naam vadaaee jan sobhaa paae ||
By the greatness of the Naam, His humble servants are blessed with glory.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਆਪਿ ਦਿਵਾਏ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa jis aap divaae ||1|| rahaau ||
The Lord Himself bestows it, in His Mercy. ||1||Pause||
ਨਾਮੁ ਭਗਤ ਕੈ ਸੁਖ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ॥
naam bhagat kai sukh asathaan ||
The Naam is the home of peace of His devotees.
ਨਾਮ ਰਤੁ ਸੋ ਭਗਤੁ ਪਰਵਾਨੁ ॥੨॥
naam rat so bhagat paravaan ||2||
Attuned to the Naam, His devotees are approved. ||2||
ਹਰਿ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਧਾਰੈ ॥
har kaa naam jan kau dhaarai ||
The Name of the Lord is the support of His humble servants.
ਸਾਸਿ ਸਾਸਿ ਜਨੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਮਾਰੈ ॥੩॥
saas saas jan naam samaarai ||3||
With each and every breath, they remember the Naam. ||3||
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਭਾਗੁ ॥
kahu naanak jis pooraa bhaag ||
Says Nanak, those who have perfect destiny
ਨਾਮ ਸੰਗਿ ਤਾ ਕਾ ਮਨੁ ਲਾਗੁ ॥੪॥੪੯॥੧੧੮॥
naam sa(n)g taa kaa man laag ||4||49||118||
- their minds are attached to the Naam. ||4||49||118||

ਸੰਤ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ॥
sa(n)t prasaad har naam dhiaaiaa ||
By the Grace of the Saints, I meditated on the Name of the Lord.
ਤਬ ਤੇ ਧਾਵਤੁ ਮਨੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਪਤਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
tab te dhaavat man tripataaiaa ||1||
Since then, my restless mind has been satisfied. ||1||
ਸੁਖ ਬਿਸ੍ਰਾਮੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇ ॥
sukh bisraam paaiaa gun gaai ||
I have obtained the home of peace, singing His Glorious Praises.
ਸ੍ਰਮੁ ਮਿਟਿਆ ਮੇਰੀ ਹਤੀ ਬਲਾਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sram mitiaa meree hatee balaai ||1|| rahaau ||
My troubles have ended, and the demon has been destroyed. ||1||Pause||
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਅਰਾਧਿ ਭਗਵੰਤਾ ॥
charan kamal araadh bhagava(n)taa ||
Worship and adore the Lotus Feet of the Lord God.
ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਤੇ ਮਿਟੀ ਮੇਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ॥੨॥
har simaran te mitee meree chi(n)taa ||2||
Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, my anxiety has come to an end. ||2||
ਸਭ ਤਜਿ ਅਨਾਥੁ ਏਕ ਸਰਣਿ ਆਇਓ ॥
sabh taj anaath ek saran aaio ||
I have renounced all - I am an orphan. I have come to the Sanctuary of the One Lord.
ਊਚ ਅਸਥਾਨੁ ਤਬ ਸਹਜੇ ਪਾਇਓ ॥੩॥
ooch asathaan tab sahaje paaio ||3||
Since then, I have found the highest celestial home. ||3||
ਦੂਖੁ ਦਰਦੁ ਭਰਮੁ ਭਉ ਨਸਿਆ ॥
dookh darad bharam bhau nasiaa ||
My pains, troubles, doubts and fears are gone.
ਕਰਣਹਾਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਮਨਿ ਬਸਿਆ ॥੪॥੫੦॥੧੧੯॥
karanahaar naanak man basiaa ||4||50||119||
The Creator Lord abides in Nanak's mind. ||4||50||119||
