ਜਿਸਹਿ ਉਧਾਰੇ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਸੋ ਸਿਮਰੇ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੁ ॥੧੫॥
jisahi udhaare naanakaa so simare sirajanahaar ||15||
Those whom He saves, meditate in remembrance on the Creator Lord. ||15||
ਦੂਜੀ ਛੋਡਿ ਕੁਵਾਟੜੀ ਇਕਸ ਸਉ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇ ॥
doojee chhod kuvaataRee ikas sau chit laai ||
Forsake duality and the ways of evil; focus your consciousness on the One Lord.
ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਵਂੀ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਵਹਣਿ ਲੁੜੑੰਦੜੀ ਜਾਇ ॥੧੬॥
doojai bhaava(n)ee naanakaa vahan luRh(n)daRee jaai ||16||
In the love of duality, O Nanak, the mortals are being washed downstream. ||16||
ਤਿਹਟੜੇ ਬਾਜਾਰ ਸਉਦਾ ਕਰਨਿ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ॥
tihataRe baajaar saudaa karan vanajaariaa ||
In the markets and bazaars of the three qualities, the merchants make their deals.
ਸਚੁ ਵਖਰੁ ਜਿਨੀ ਲਦਿਆ ਸੇ ਸਚੜੇ ਪਾਸਾਰ ॥੧੭॥
sach vakhar jinee ladiaa se sachaRe paasaar ||17||
Those who load the true merchandise are the true traders. ||17||
ਪੰਥਾ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਭੂਲੀ ਫਿਰੈ ਗਵਾਰਿ ॥
pa(n)thaa prem na jaanaee bhoolee phirai gavaar ||
Those who do not know the way of love are foolish; they wander lost and confused.
ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਾਇ ਕੈ ਪਉਦੇ ਨਰਕਿ ਅੰਧੵਾਰ ॥੧੮॥
naanak har bisaraai kai paude narak a(n)dhyaar ||18||
O Nanak, forgetting the Lord, they fall into the deep, dark pit of hell. ||18||
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਨਹੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਮਾਂਗੈ ਦੰਮਾਂ ਦੰਮ ॥
maaiaa manahu na veesarai maa(n)gai da(n)maa(n) da(n)m ||
In his mind, the mortal does not forget Maya; he begs for more and more wealth.
ਸੋ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਚਿਤਿ ਨ ਆਵਈ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹੀ ਕਰੰਮਿ ॥੧੯॥
so prabh chit na aavaee naanak nahee kara(n)m ||19||
That God does not even come into his consciousness; O Nanak, it is not in his karma. ||19||
ਤਿਚਰੁ ਮੂਲਿ ਨ ਥੁੜਂੀਦੋ ਜਿਚਰੁ ਆਪਿ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲੁ ॥
tichar mool na thuRa(n)eedo jichar aap kripaal ||
The mortal does not run out of capital, as long as the Lord Himself is merciful.
ਸਬਦੁ ਅਖੁਟੁ ਬਾਬਾ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਖਾਹਿ ਖਰਚਿ ਧਨੁ ਮਾਲੁ ॥੨੦॥
sabad akhut baabaa naanakaa khaahi kharach dhan maal ||20||
The Word of the Shabad is Guru Nanak's inexhaustible treasure; this wealth and capital never runs out, no matter how much it is spent and consumed. ||20||
ਖੰਭ ਵਿਕਾਂਦੜੇ ਜੇ ਲਹਾਂ ਘਿੰਨਾ ਸਾਵੀ ਤੋਲਿ ॥
kha(n)bh vikaa(n)daRe je lahaa(n) ghi(n)naa saavee tol ||
If I could find wings for sale, I would buy them with an equal weight of my flesh.
ਤੰਨਿ ਜੜਾਂਈ ਆਪਣੈ ਲਹਾਂ ਸੁ ਸਜਣੁ ਟੋਲਿ ॥੨੧॥
ta(n)n jaRaa(n)ee aapanai lahaa(n) s sajan tol ||21||
I would attach them to my body, and seek out and find my Friend. ||21||
ਸਜਣੁ ਸਚਾ ਪਾਤਿਸਾਹੁ ਸਿਰਿ ਸਾਹਾਂ ਦੈ ਸਾਹੁ ॥
sajan sachaa paatisaahu sir saahaa(n) dai saahu ||
My Friend is the True Supreme King, the King over the heads of kings.
ਜਿਸੁ ਪਾਸਿ ਬਹਿਠਿਆ ਸੋਹੀਐ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਵੇਸਾਹੁ ॥੨੨॥
jis paas bahithiaa soheeai sabhanaa(n) daa vesaahu ||22||
Sitting by His side, we are exalted and beautified; He is the Support of all. ||22||
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

Salok, Ninth Mehl:
ਗੁਨ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਗਾਇਓ ਨਹੀ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਰਥ ਕੀਨੁ ॥
gun gobi(n)d gaaio nahee janam akaarath keen ||
If you do not sing the Praises of the Lord, your life is rendered useless.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਜੁ ਮਨਾ ਜਿਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਜਲ ਕਉ ਮੀਨੁ ॥੧॥
kahu naanak har bhaj manaa jih bidh jal kau meen ||1||
Says Nanak, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord; immerse your mind in Him, like the fish in the water. ||1||
ਬਿਖਿਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਕਾਹੇ ਰਚਿਓ ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਹੋਹਿ ਉਦਾਸੁ ॥
bikhian siu kaahe rachio nimakh na hohi udaas ||
Why are you engrossed in sin and corruption? You are not detached, even for a moment!
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਾ ਪਰੈ ਨ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸ ॥੨॥
kahu naanak bhaj har manaa parai na jam kee phaas ||2||
Says Nanak, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord, and you shall not be caught in the noose of death. ||2||
ਤਰਨਾਪੋ ਇਉ ਹੀ ਗਇਓ ਲੀਓ ਜਰਾ ਤਨੁ ਜੀਤਿ ॥
taranaapo iu hee gaio leeo jaraa tan jeet ||
Your youth has passed away like this, and old age has overtaken your body.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਾ ਅਉਧ ਜਾਤੁ ਹੈ ਬੀਤਿ ॥੩॥
kahu naanak bhaj har manaa audh jaat hai beet ||3||
Says Nanak, meditate, vibrate upon the Lord; your life is fleeting away! ||3||
ਬਿਰਧਿ ਭਇਓ ਸੂਝੈ ਨਹੀ ਕਾਲੁ ਪਹੂਚਿਓ ਆਨਿ ॥
biradh bhaio soojhai nahee kaal pahoochio aan ||
You have become old, and you do not understand that death is overtaking you.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਰ ਬਾਵਰੇ ਕਿਉ ਨ ਭਜੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੪॥
kahu naanak nar baavare kiu na bhajai bhagavaan ||4||
Says Nanak, you are insane! Why do you not remember and meditate on God? ||4||
ਧਨੁ ਦਾਰਾ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਸਗਲ ਜਿਨਿ ਅਪੁਨੀ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿ ॥
dhan daaraa sa(n)pat sagal jin apunee kar maan ||
Your wealth, spouse, and all the possessions which you claim as your own
ਇਨ ਮੈ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗੀ ਨਹੀ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਾਚੀ ਜਾਨਿ ॥੫॥
in mai kachh sa(n)gee nahee naanak saachee jaan ||5||
- none of these shall go along with you in the end. O Nanak, know this as true. ||5||
ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਨ ਭੈ ਹਰਨ ਹਰਿ ਅਨਾਥ ਕੇ ਨਾਥ ॥
patit udhaaran bhai haran har anaath ke naath ||
He is the Saving Grace of sinners, the Destroyer of fear, the Master of the masterless.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਹ ਜਾਨੀਐ ਸਦਾ ਬਸਤੁ ਤੁਮ ਸਾਥਿ ॥੬॥
kahu naanak tih jaaneeai sadaa basat tum saath ||6||
Says Nanak, realize and know Him, who is always with you. ||6||
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਜਿਹ ਤੋ ਕਉ ਦੀਓ ਤਾਂ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਕੀਨ ॥
tan dhan jih to kau deeo taa(n) siu nehu na keen ||
He has given you your body and wealth, but you are not in love with Him.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਰ ਬਾਵਰੇ ਅਬ ਕਿਉ ਡੋਲਤ ਦੀਨ ॥੭॥
kahu naanak nar baavare ab kiu dolat deen ||7||
Says Nanak, you are insane! Why do you now shake and tremble so helplessly? ||7||
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪੈ ਸੁਖ ਦੀਓ ਅਰੁ ਜਿਹ ਨੀਕੇ ਧਾਮ ॥
tan dhan sa(n)pai sukh deeo ar jih neeke dhaam ||
He has given you your body, wealth, property, peace and beautiful mansions.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਨੁ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਕਾਹਿ ਨ ਰਾਮੁ ॥੮॥
kahu naanak sun re manaa simarat kaahi na raam ||8||
Says Nanak, listen, mind: why don't you remember the Lord in meditation? ||8||
ਸਭ ਸੁਖ ਦਾਤਾ ਰਾਮੁ ਹੈ ਦੂਸਰ ਨਾਹਿਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
sabh sukh daataa raam hai doosar naahin koi ||
The Lord is the Giver of all peace and comfort. There is no other at all.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਨਿ ਰੇ ਮਨਾ ਤਿਹ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥੯॥
kahu naanak sun re manaa tih simarat gat hoi ||9||
Says Nanak, listen, mind: meditating in remembrance on Him, salvation is attained. ||9||
