ਚਾਰੇ ਕੁੰਡਾ ਝੋਕਿ ਵਰਸਦਾ ਬੂੰਦ ਪਵੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

chaare ku(n)daa jhok varasadaa boo(n)d pavai sahaj subhaai ||

The clouds are heavy, hanging low, and the rain is pouring down on all sides; the rain-drop is received, with natural ease.

ਜਲ ਹੀ ਤੇ ਸਭ ਊਪਜੈ ਬਿਨੁ ਜਲ ਪਿਆਸ ਨ ਜਾਇ ॥

jal hee te sabh oopajai bin jal piaas na jaai ||

From water, everything is produced; without water, thirst is not quenched.

ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਜਲੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਪੀਆ ਤਿਸੁ ਭੂਖ ਨ ਲਾਗੈ ਆਇ ॥੫੫॥

naanak har jal jin peeaa tis bhookh na laagai aai ||55||

O Nanak, whoever drinks in the Water of the Lord, shall never feel hunger again. ||55||

ਬਾਬੀਹਾ ਤੂੰ ਸਹਜਿ ਬੋਲਿ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸੁਭਾਇ ॥

baabeehaa too(n) sahaj bol sachai sabad subhaai ||

O rainbird, speak the Shabad, the True Word of God, with natural peace and poise.

ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤੇਰੈ ਨਾਲਿ ਹੈ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਦਿਖਾਇ ॥

sabh kichh terai naal hai satigur deeaa dikhaai ||

Everything is with you; the True Guru will show you this.

ਆਪੁ ਪਛਾਣਹਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਵੁਠਾ ਛਹਬਰ ਲਾਇ ॥

aap pachhaanahi preetam milai vuthaa chhahabar laai ||

So understand your own self, and meet your Beloved; His Grace shall rain down in torrents.

ਝਿਮਿ ਝਿਮਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤੁ ਵਰਸਦਾ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਭੁਖ ਸਭ ਜਾਇ ॥

jhim jhim a(n)mrit varasadaa tisanaa bhukh sabh jaai ||

Drop by drop, the Ambrosial Nectar rains down softly and gently; thirst and hunger are completely gone.

ਕੂਕ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਨ ਹੋਵਈ ਜੋਤੀ ਜੋਤਿ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥

kook pukaar na hovaee jotee jot milaai ||

Your cries and screams of anguish have ceased; your light shall merge into the Light.

ਨਾਨਕ ਸੁਖਿ ਸਵਨੑਿ ਸੋਹਾਗਣੀ ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੫੬॥

naanak sukh savanhi sohaaganee sachai naam samaai ||56||

O Nanak, the happy soul-brides sleep in peace; they are absorbed in the True Name. ||56||

ਧੁਰਹੁ ਖਸਮਿ ਭੇਜਿਆ ਸਚੈ ਹੁਕਮਿ ਪਠਾਇ ॥

dhurahu khasam bhejiaa sachai hukam pathaai ||

The Primal Lord and Master has sent out the True Hukam of His Command.

ਇੰਦੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਦਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਗੂੜੑੀ ਛਹਬਰ ਲਾਇ ॥

i(n)d varasai daiaa kar gooRhee chhahabar laai ||

Indra mercifully sends forth the rain, which falls in torrents.

ਬਾਬੀਹੇ ਤਨਿ ਮਨਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ਜਾਂ ਤਤੁ ਬੂੰਦ ਮੁਹਿ ਪਾਇ ॥

baabeehe tan man sukh hoi jaa(n) tat boo(n)d muhi paai ||

The body and mind of the rainbird are happy. only when the rain-drop falls into its mouth.

ਅਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਬਹੁਤਾ ਉਪਜੈ ਧਰਤੀ ਸੋਭਾ ਪਾਇ ॥

an dhan bahutaa upajai dharatee sobhaa paai ||

The corn grows high, wealth increases, and the earth is embellished with beauty.

ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਲੋਕੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰੇ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

anadin lok bhagat kare gur kai sabad samaai ||

Night and day, people worship the Lord with devotion, and are absorbed in the Word of the Guru's Shabad.

ਆਪੇ ਸਚਾ ਬਖਸਿ ਲਏ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰੈ ਰਜਾਇ ॥

aape sachaa bakhas lae kar kirapaa karai rajaai ||

The True Lord Himself forgives them, and showering them with His Mercy, He leads them to walk in His Will.

ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਕਾਮਣੀ ਸਚੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

har gun gaavahu kaamanee sachai sabad samaai ||

O brides, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord, and be absorbed in the True Word of His Shabad.

ਭੈ ਕਾ ਸਹਜੁ ਸੀਗਾਰੁ ਕਰਿਹੁ ਸਚਿ ਰਹਹੁ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥

bhai kaa sahaj seegaar karihu sach rahahu liv laai ||

Let the Fear of God be your decoration, and remain lovingly attuned to the True Lord.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੋ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਲਏ ਛਡਾਇ ॥੫੭॥

naanak naamo man vasai har daragah lae chhadaai ||57||

O Nanak, the Naam abides in the mind, and the mortal is saved in the Court of the Lord. ||57||

ਬਾਬੀਹਾ ਸਗਲੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਜੇ ਫਿਰਹਿ ਊਡਿ ਚੜਹਿ ਆਕਾਸਿ ॥

baabeehaa sagalee dharatee je phirahi ood chaRahi aakaas ||

The rainbird wanders all over the earth, soaring high through the skies.

ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਮਿਲਿਐ ਜਲੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਚੂਕੈ ਭੂਖ ਪਿਆਸ ॥

satigur miliai jal paaeeai chookai bhookh piaas ||

But it obtains the drop of water, only when it meets the True Guru, and then, its hunger and thirst are relieved.

ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਸਭੁ ਤਿਸ ਕਾ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਤਿਸ ਕੈ ਪਾਸਿ ॥

jeeu pi(n)d sabh tis kaa sabh kichh tis kai paas ||

Soul and body and all belong to Him; everything is His.

ਵਿਣੁ ਬੋਲਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕੀਚੈ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥

vin boliaa sabh kichh jaanadaa kis aagai keechai aradaas ||

He knows everything, without being told; unto whom should we offer our prayers?

ਨਾਨਕ ਘਟਿ ਘਟਿ ਏਕੋ ਵਰਤਦਾ ਸਬਦਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਰਗਾਸ ॥੫੮॥

naanak ghat ghat eko varatadaa sabad kare paragaas ||58||

O Nanak, the One Lord is prevading and permeating each and every heart; the Word of the Shabad brings illumination. ||58||

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਸੈ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹੈ ਜਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਸਮਾਇ ॥

naanak tisai basa(n)t hai j satigur sev samaai ||

O Nanak, the season of spring comes to one who serves the True Guru.

ਹਰਿ ਵੁਠਾ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਪਰਫੜੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਹਰੀਆਵਲੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੫੯॥

har vuthaa man tan sabh paraphaRai sabh jag hareeaaval hoi ||59||

The Lord rains His Mercy down upon him, and his mind and body totally blossom forth; the entire world becomes green and rejuvenated. ||59||

ਸਬਦੇ ਸਦਾ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਤੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥

sabade sadaa basa(n)t hai jit tan man hariaa hoi ||

The Word of the Shabad brings eternal spring; it rejuvenates the mind and body.

ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਿਰਿਆ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥੬੦॥

naanak naam na veesarai jin siriaa sabh koi ||60||

O Nanak, do not forget the Naam, the Name of the Lord, which has created everyone. ||60||

ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨਾ ਬਸੰਤੁ ਹੈ ਜਿਨਾ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਮਨਿ ਸੋਇ ॥

naanak tinaa basa(n)t hai jinaa guramukh vasiaa man soi ||

O Nanak, it is the spring season, for those Gurmukhs, within whose minds the Lord abides.

ਹਰਿ ਵੁਠੈ ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਪਰਫੜੈ ਸਭੁ ਜਗੁ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਇ ॥੬੧॥

har vuthai man tan paraphaRai sabh jag hariaa hoi ||61||

When the Lord showers His Mercy, the mind and body blossom forth, and all the world turns green and lush. ||61||

ਵਡੜੈ ਝਾਲਿ ਝਲੁੰਭਲੈ ਨਾਵੜਾ ਲਈਐ ਕਿਸੁ ॥

vadaRai jhaal jhalu(n)bhalai naavaRaa laeeai kis ||

In the early hours of the morning, whose name should we chant?

ਨਾਉ ਲਈਐ ਪਰਮੇਸਰੈ ਭੰਨਣ ਘੜਣ ਸਮਰਥੁ ॥੬੨॥

naau laeeai paramesarai bha(n)nan ghaRan samarath ||62||

Chant the Name of the Transcendent Lord, who is All-powerful to create and destroy. ||62||

ਹਰਹਟ ਭੀ ਤੂੰ ਤੂੰ ਕਰਹਿ ਬੋਲਹਿ ਭਲੀ ਬਾਣਿ ॥

harahat bhee too(n) too(n) karahi bolahi bhalee baan ||

The Persian wheel also cries out, "Too! Too! You! You!", with sweet and sublime sounds.

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸਦਾ ਹਦੂਰਿ ਹੈ ਕਿਆ ਉਚੀ ਕਰਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰ ॥

saahib sadaa hadoor hai kiaa uchee karahi pukaar ||

Our Lord and Master is always present; why do you cry out to Him in such a loud voice?

ਜਿਨਿ ਜਗਤੁ ਉਪਾਇ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਸੈ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੁ ॥

jin jagat upaai har ra(n)g keeaa tisai vitahu kurabaan ||

I am a sacrifice to that Lord who created the world, and who loves it.

ਆਪੁ ਛੋਡਹਿ ਤਾਂ ਸਹੁ ਮਿਲੈ ਸਚਾ ਏਹੁ ਵੀਚਾਰੁ ॥

aap chhodahi taa(n) sahu milai sachaa ehu veechaar ||

Give up your selfishness, and then you shall meet your Husband Lord. Consider this Truth.

ਹਉਮੈ ਫਿਕਾ ਬੋਲਣਾ ਬੁਝਿ ਨ ਸਕਾ ਕਾਰ ॥

haumai phikaa bolanaa bujh na sakaa kaar ||

Speaking in shallow egotism, no one understands the Ways of God.

ਵਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਣੁ ਤ੍ਰਿਭਵਣੁ ਤੁਝੈ ਧਿਆਇਦਾ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਸਦਾ ਵਿਹਾਣ ॥

van trin tribhavan tujhai dhiaaidaa anadin sadaa vihaan ||

The forests and fields, and all the three worlds meditate on You, O Lord; this is the way they pass their days and nights forever.

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਥਕੇ ਵੀਚਾਰ ॥

bin satigur kinai na paaiaa kar kar thake veechaar ||

Without the True Guru, no one finds the Lord. People have grown weary of thinking about it.
