ਸਸੁਰੈ ਪੇਈਐ ਤਿਸੁ ਕੰਤ ਕੀ ਵਡਾ ਜਿਸੁ ਪਰਵਾਰੁ ॥
sasurai peeeai tis ka(n)t kee vadaa jis paravaar ||
In this world and in the next, the soul-bride belongs to her Husband Lord, who has such a vast family.
ਊਚਾ ਅਗਮ ਅਗਾਧਿ ਬੋਧ ਕਿਛੁ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਪਾਰਾਵਾਰੁ ॥
oochaa agam agaadh bodh kichh a(n)t na paaraavaar ||
He is Lofty and Inaccessible. His Wisdom is Unfathomable.
ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਭਾਵਸੀ ਸੰਤਾ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਛਾਰੁ ॥
sevaa saa tis bhaavasee sa(n)taa kee hoi chhaar ||
He has no end or limitation. That service is pleasing to Him, which makes one humble, like the dust of the feet of the Saints.
ਦੀਨਾ ਨਾਥ ਦੈਆਲ ਦੇਵ ਪਤਿਤ ਉਧਾਰਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
deenaa naath daiaal dev patit udhaaranahaar ||
He is the Patron of the poor, the Merciful, Luminous Lord, the Redeemer of sinners.
ਆਦਿ ਜੁਗਾਦੀ ਰਖਦਾ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾਰੁ ॥
aad jugaadee rakhadaa sach naam karataar ||
From the very beginning, and throughout the ages, the True Name of the Creator has been our Saving Grace.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਜਾਣਈ ਕੋ ਨਾਹੀ ਤੋਲਣਹਾਰੁ ॥
keemat koi na jaanaee ko naahee tolanahaar ||
No one can know His Value; no one can weigh it.
ਮਨ ਤਨ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਵਸਿ ਰਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥
man tan a(n)tar vas rahe naanak nahee sumaar ||
He dwells deep within the mind and body. O Nanak, He cannot be measured.
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਜਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੰਉ ਸੇਵਦੇ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਸਦ ਬਲਿਹਾਰ ॥੨॥
din rain j prabh ka(n)u sevade tin kai sad balihaar ||2||
I am forever a sacrifice to those who serve God, day and night. ||2||
ਸੰਤ ਅਰਾਧਨਿ ਸਦ ਸਦਾ ਸਭਨਾ ਕਾ ਬਖਸਿੰਦੁ ॥
sa(n)t araadhan sad sadaa sabhanaa kaa bakhasi(n)d ||
The Saints worship and adore Him forever and ever; He is the Forgiver of all.
ਜੀਉ ਪਿੰਡੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਾਜਿਆ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਦਿਤੀਨੁ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥
jeeu pi(n)d jin saajiaa kar kirapaa diteen ji(n)d ||
He fashioned the soul and the body, and by His Kindness, He bestowed the soul.
ਗੁਰਸਬਦੀ ਆਰਾਧੀਐ ਜਪੀਐ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਮੰਤੁ ॥
gurasabadee aaraadheeai japeeai niramal ma(n)t ||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, worship and adore Him, and chant His Pure Mantra.
ਕੀਮਤਿ ਕਹਣੁ ਨ ਜਾਈਐ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਬੇਅੰਤੁ ॥
keemat kahan na jaaeeai paramesur bea(n)t ||
His Value cannot be evaluated. The Transcendent Lord is endless.
ਜਿਸੁ ਮਨਿ ਵਸੈ ਨਰਾਇਣੋ ਸੋ ਕਹੀਐ ਭਗਵੰਤੁ ॥
jis man vasai naraaino so kaheeai bhagava(n)t ||
That one, within whose mind the Lord abides, is said to be most fortunate.
ਜੀਅ ਕੀ ਲੋਚਾ ਪੂਰੀਐ ਮਿਲੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਕੰਤੁ ॥
jee kee lochaa pooreeai milai suaamee ka(n)t ||
The soul's desires are fulfilled, upon meeting the Master, our Husband Lord.
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜੀਵੈ ਜਪਿ ਹਰੀ ਦੋਖ ਸਭੇ ਹੀ ਹੰਤੁ ॥
naanak jeevai jap haree dokh sabhe hee ha(n)t ||
Nanak lives by chanting the Lord's Name; all sorrows have been erased.
ਦਿਨੁ ਰੈਣਿ ਜਿਸੁ ਨ ਵਿਸਰੈ ਸੋ ਹਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੈ ਜੰਤੁ ॥੩॥
din rain jis na visarai so hariaa hovai ja(n)t ||3||
One who does not forget Him, day and night, is continually rejuvenated. ||3||
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਪੂਰਣੋ ਮੰਞੁ ਨਿਮਾਣੀ ਥਾਉ ॥
sarab kalaa prabh poorano ma(n)nj nimaanee thaau ||
God is overflowing with all powers. I have no honor-He is my resting place.
ਹਰਿ ਓਟ ਗਹੀ ਮਨ ਅੰਦਰੇ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵਾਂ ਨਾਉ ॥
har ot gahee man a(n)dare jap jap jeevaa(n) naau ||
I have grasped the Support of the Lord within my mind; I live by chanting and meditating on His Name.
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਨ ਧੂੜੀ ਸੰਗਿ ਸਮਾਉ ॥
kar kirapaa prabh aapanee jan dhooRee sa(n)g samaau ||
Grant Your Grace, God, and bless me, that I may merge into the dust of the feet of the humble.
ਜਿਉ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਖਹਿ ਤਿਉ ਰਹਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਿਤਾ ਪੈਨਾ ਖਾਉ ॥
jiu too(n) raakhahi tiu rahaa teraa ditaa painaa khaau ||
As You keep me, so do I live. I wear and eat whatever You give me.
ਉਦਮੁ ਸੋਈ ਕਰਾਇ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧੂ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਉ ॥
udam soee karaai prabh mil saadhoo gun gaau ||
May I make the effort, O God, to sing Your Glorious Praises in the Company of the Holy.
ਦੂਜੀ ਜਾਇ ਨ ਸੁਝਈ ਕਿਥੈ ਕੂਕਣ ਜਾਉ ॥
doojee jaai na sujhaee kithai kookan jaau ||
I can conceive of no other place; where could I go to lodge a complaint?
ਅਗਿਆਨ ਬਿਨਾਸਨ ਤਮ ਹਰਣ ਊਚੇ ਅਗਮ ਅਮਾਉ ॥
agiaan binaasan tam haran ooche agam amaau ||
You are the Dispeller of ignorance, the Destroyer of darkness, O Lofty, Unfathomable and Unapproachable Lord.
ਮਨੁ ਵਿਛੁੜਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਮੇਲੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਏਹੁ ਸੁਆਉ ॥
man vichhuRiaa har meleeai naanak ehu suaau ||
Please unite this separated one with Yourself; this is Nanak's yearning.
ਸਰਬ ਕਲਿਆਣਾ ਤਿਤੁ ਦਿਨਿ ਹਰਿ ਪਰਸੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਪਾਉ ॥੪॥੧॥
sarab kaliaanaa tit din har parasee gur ke paau ||4||1||
That day shall bring every joy, O Lord, when I take to the Feet of the Guru. ||4||1||
ਵਾਰ ਮਾਝ ਕੀ ਤਥਾ ਸਲੋਕ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ਮਲਕ ਮੁਰੀਦ ਤਥਾ ਚੰਦ੍ਰਹੜਾ ਸੋਹੀਆ ਕੀ ਧੁਨੀ ਗਾਵਣੀ ॥

ikOankaar sat naam karataa purakh gur prasaad ||

Salok, First Mehl:
ਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਹਿਵੈ ਘਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੀਪਕੁ ਤਿਹ ਲੋਇ ॥
gur daataa gur hivai ghar gur deepak tih loi ||
The Guru is the Giver; the Guru is the House of ice. The Guru is the Light of the three worlds.
ਅਮਰ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਨਾਨਕਾ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਨਿਐ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥
amar padaarath naanakaa man maaniai sukh hoi ||1||
O Nanak, He is everlasting wealth. Place your mind's faith in Him, and you shall find peace. ||1||

First Mehl:
ਪਹਿਲੈ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਲਗਾ ਥਣ ਦੁਧਿ ॥
pahilai piaar lagaa than dudh ||
First, the baby loves mother's milk;
ਦੂਜੈ ਮਾਇ ਬਾਪ ਕੀ ਸੁਧਿ ॥
doojai maai baap kee sudh ||
second, he learns of his mother and father;
ਤੀਜੈ ਭਯਾ ਭਾਭੀ ਬੇਬ ॥
teejai bhayaa bhaabhee beb ||
third, his brothers, sisters-in-law and sisters;
ਚਉਥੈ ਪਿਆਰਿ ਉਪੰਨੀ ਖੇਡ ॥
chauthai piaar upa(n)nee khed ||
fourth, the love of play awakens.
ਪੰਜਵੈ ਖਾਣ ਪੀਅਣ ਕੀ ਧਾਤੁ ॥
pa(n)javai khaan peean kee dhaat ||
Fifth, he runs after food and drink;
ਛਿਵੈ ਕਾਮੁ ਨ ਪੁਛੈ ਜਾਤਿ ॥
chhivai kaam na puchhai jaat ||
sixth, in his sexual desire, he does not respect social customs.
ਸਤਵੈ ਸੰਜਿ ਕੀਆ ਘਰ ਵਾਸੁ ॥
satavai sa(n)j keeaa ghar vaas ||
Seventh, he gathers wealth and dwells in his house;
ਅਠਵੈ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਹੋਆ ਤਨ ਨਾਸੁ ॥
athavai krodh hoaa tan naas ||
eighth, he becomes angry, and his body is consumed.
ਨਾਵੈ ਧਉਲੇ ਉਭੇ ਸਾਹ ॥
naavai dhaule ubhe saah ||
Ninth, he turns grey, and his breathing becomes labored;
ਦਸਵੈ ਦਧਾ ਹੋਆ ਸੁਆਹ ॥
dasavai dadhaa hoaa suaah ||
tenth, he is cremated, and turns to ashes.
ਗਏ ਸਿਗੀਤ ਪੁਕਾਰੀ ਧਾਹ ॥
gae sigeet pukaaree dhaah ||
His companions send him off, crying out and lamenting.
ਉਡਿਆ ਹੰਸੁ ਦਸਾਏ ਰਾਹ ॥
udiaa ha(n)s dasaae raah ||
The swan of the soul takes flight, and asks which way to go.
