ੴ ਸਤਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਤਾ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਨਿਰਵੈਰੁ ਅਕਾਲ ਮੂਰਤਿ ਅਜੂਨੀ ਸੈਭੰ ਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar sat naam karataa purakh nirabhau niravair akaal moorat ajoonee saibha(n) gur prasaad ||

Raag Jaijaavantee, Ninth Mehl:
ਰਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਰਾਮੁ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਇਹੈ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਾਜਿ ਹੈ ॥
raam simar raam simar ihai terai kaaj hai ||
Meditate in remembrance on the Lord - meditate on the Lord; this alone shall be of use to you.
ਮਾਇਆ ਕੋ ਸੰਗੁ ਤਿਆਗੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜੂ ਕੀ ਸਰਨਿ ਲਾਗੁ ॥
maaiaa ko sa(n)g tiaag prabh joo kee saran laag ||
Abandon your association with Maya, and take shelter in the Sanctuary of God.
ਜਗਤ ਸੁਖ ਮਾਨੁ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਝੂਠੋ ਸਭ ਸਾਜੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jagat sukh maan mithiaa jhootho sabh saaj hai ||1|| rahaau ||
Remember that the pleasures of the world are false; this whole show is just an illusion. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਪਨੇ ਜਿਉ ਧਨੁ ਪਛਾਨੁ ਕਾਹੇ ਪਰਿ ਕਰਤ ਮਾਨੁ ॥
supane jiu dhan pachhaan kaahe par karat maan ||
You must understand that this wealth is just a dream. Why are you so proud?
ਬਾਰੂ ਕੀ ਭੀਤਿ ਜੈਸੇ ਬਸੁਧਾ ਕੋ ਰਾਜੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
baaroo kee bheet jaise basudhaa ko raaj hai ||1||
The empires of the earth are like walls of sand. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਕਹਤੁ ਬਾਤ ਬਿਨਸਿ ਜੈਹੈ ਤੇਰੋ ਗਾਤੁ ॥
naanak jan kahat baat binas jaihai tero gaat ||
Servant Nanak speaks the Truth: your body shall perish and pass away.
ਛਿਨੁ ਛਿਨੁ ਕਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਕਾਲੁ ਤੈਸੇ ਜਾਤੁ ਆਜੁ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੧॥
chhin chhin kar gaio kaal taise jaat aaj hai ||2||1||
Moment by moment, yesterday passed. Today is passing as well. ||2||1||

ਰਾਮੁ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮੁ ਭਜੁ ਜਨਮੁ ਸਿਰਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥
raam bhaj raam bhaj janam siraat hai ||
Meditate on the Lord - vibrate on the Lord; your life is slipping away.
ਕਹਉ ਕਹਾ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਸਮਝਤ ਨਹ ਕਿਉ ਗਵਾਰ ॥
kahau kahaa baar baar samajhat nah kiu gavaar ||
Why am I telling you this again and again? You fool - why don't you understand?
ਬਿਨਸਤ ਨਹ ਲਗੈ ਬਾਰ ਓਰੇ ਸਮ ਗਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
binasat nah lagai baar ore sam gaat hai ||1|| rahaau ||
Your body is like a hail-stone; it melts away in no time at all. ||1||Pause||
ਸਗਲ ਭਰਮ ਡਾਰਿ ਦੇਹਿ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕੋ ਨਾਮੁ ਲੇਹਿ ॥
sagal bharam daar dehi gobi(n)d ko naam lehi ||
So give up all your doubts, and utter the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
ਅੰਤਿ ਬਾਰ ਸੰਗਿ ਤੇਰੈ ਇਹੈ ਏਕੁ ਜਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
a(n)t baar sa(n)g terai ihai ek jaat hai ||1||
At the very last moment, this alone shall go along with you. ||1||
ਬਿਖਿਆ ਬਿਖੁ ਜਿਉ ਬਿਸਾਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੌ ਜਸੁ ਹੀਏ ਧਾਰਿ ॥
bikhiaa bikh jiu bisaar prabh kau jas heee dhaar ||
Forget the poisonous sins of corruption, and enshrine the Praises of God in your heart.
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਅਉਸਰੁ ਬਿਹਾਤੁ ਹੈ ॥੨॥੨॥
naanak jan kahi pukaar ausar bihaat hai ||2||2||
Servant Nanak proclaims that this opportunity is slipping away. ||2||2||

ਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਉਨ ਗਤਿ ਹੋਇ ਹੈ ਤੇਰੀ ॥
re man kaun gat hoi hai teree ||
O mortal, what will your condition be?
ਇਹ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੋ ਤਉ ਨਹੀ ਸੁਨਿਓ ਕਾਨਿ ॥
ih jag mahi raam naam so tau nahee sunio kaan ||
In this world, you have not listened to the Lord's Name.
ਬਿਖਿਅਨ ਸਿਉ ਅਤਿ ਲੁਭਾਨਿ ਮਤਿ ਨਾਹਿਨ ਫੇਰੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
bikhian siu at lubhaan mat naahin pheree ||1|| rahaau ||
You are totally engrossed in corruption and sin; you have not turned your mind away from them at all. ||1||Pause||
ਮਾਨਸ ਕੋ ਜਨਮੁ ਲੀਨੁ ਸਿਮਰਨੁ ਨਹ ਨਿਮਖ ਕੀਨੁ ॥
maanas ko janam leen simaran nah nimakh keen ||
You obtained this human life, but you have not remembered the Lord in meditation, even for an instant.
ਦਾਰਾ ਸੁਖ ਭਇਓ ਦੀਨੁ ਪਗਹੁ ਪਰੀ ਬੇਰੀ ॥੧॥
daaraa sukh bhaio deen pagahu paree beree ||1||
For the sake of pleasure, you have become subservient to your woman, and now your feet are bound. ||1||
ਨਾਨਕ ਜਨ ਕਹਿ ਪੁਕਾਰਿ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਜਿਉ ਜਗ ਪਸਾਰੁ ॥
naanak jan kahi pukaar supanai jiu jag pasaar ||
Servant Nanak proclaims that the vast expanse of this world is just a dream.
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਹ ਕਿਉ ਮੁਰਾਰਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਕੀ ਚੇਰੀ ॥੨॥੩॥
simarat nah kiu muraar maaiaa jaa kee cheree ||2||3||
Why not meditate on the Lord? Even Maya is His slave. ||2||3||

ਬੀਤ ਜੈਹੈ ਬੀਤ ਜੈਹੈ ਜਨਮੁ ਅਕਾਜੁ ਰੇ ॥
beet jaihai beet jaihai janam akaaj re ||
Slipping away - your life is uselessly slipping away.
ਨਿਸਿ ਦਿਨੁ ਸੁਨਿ ਕੈ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਮਝਤ ਨਹ ਰੇ ਅਜਾਨ ॥
nis din sun kai puraan samajhat nah re ajaan ||
Night and day, you listen to the Puraanas, but you do not understand them, you ignorant fool!
ਕਾਲੁ ਤਉ ਪਹੂਚਿਓ ਆਨਿ ਕਹਾ ਜੈਹੈ ਭਾਜਿ ਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaal tau pahoochio aan kahaa jaihai bhaaj re ||1|| rahaau ||
Death has arrived; now where will you run? ||1||Pause||
