ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੪ ॥

Prabhaatee, Fourth Mehl:
ਗੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜਾਇਓ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਮ ਮੁਏ ਜੀਵੇ ਹਰਿ ਜਪਿਭਾ ॥
gur satigur naam driRaaio har har ham mue jeeve har japibhaa ||
The Guru, the True Guru, has implanted the Naam, the Name of the Lord within me. I was dead, but chanting the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, I have been brought back to life.
ਧਨੁ ਧੰਨੁ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੁਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਪੂਰਾ ਬਿਖੁ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਬਾਹ ਦੇਇ ਕਢਿਭਾ ॥੧॥
dhan dha(n)n guroo gur satigur pooraa bikh dubade baah dei kadhibhaa ||1||
Blessed, blessed is the Guru, the Guru, the Perfect True Guru; He reached out to me with His Arm, and pulled me up and out of the ocean of poison. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਅਰਧਾਂਭਾ ॥
jap man raam naam aradhaa(n)bhaa ||
O mind, meditate and worship the Lord's Name.
ਉਪਜੰਪਿ ਉਪਾਇ ਨ ਪਾਈਐ ਕਤਹੂ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਲਾਭਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
upaja(n)p upaai na paaeeai katahoo gur poorai har prabh laabhaa ||1|| rahaau ||
God is never found, even by making all sorts of new efforts. The Lord God is obtained only through the Perfect Guru. ||1||Pause||
ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਰਸੁ ਰਾਮ ਰਸਾਇਣੁ ਰਸੁ ਪੀਆ ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਰਸਭਾ ॥
raam naam ras raam rasaain ras peeaa guramat rasabhaa ||
The Sublime Essence of the Lord's Name is the source of nectar and bliss; drinking in this Sublime Essence, following the Guru's Teachings, I have become happy.
ਲੋਹ ਮਨੂਰ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਮਿਲਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਉਰ ਧਾਰਿਓ ਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿਭਾ ॥੨॥
loh manoor ka(n)chan mil sa(n)gat har ur dhaario gur haribhaa ||2||
Even iron slag is transformed into gold, joining the Lord's Congregation. Through the Guru, the Lord's Light is enshrined within the heart. ||2||
ਹਉਮੈ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਨਿਤ ਲੋਭਿ ਲੁਭਾਨੇ ਪੁਤ ਕਲਤ ਮੋਹਿ ਲੁਭਿਭਾ ॥
haumai bikhiaa nit lobh lubhaane put kalat mohi lubhibhaa ||
Those who are continually lured by greed, egotism and corruption, who are lured away by emotional attachment to their children and spouse
ਤਿਨ ਪਗ ਸੰਤ ਨ ਸੇਵੇ ਕਬਹੂ ਤੇ ਮਨਮੁਖ ਭੂੰਭਰ ਭਰਭਾ ॥੩॥
tin pag sa(n)t na seve kabahoo te manamukh bhoo(n)bhar bharabhaa ||3||
- they never serve at the feet of the Saints; those self-willed manmukhs are filled with ashes. ||3||
ਤੁਮਰੇ ਗੁਨ ਤੁਮ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਹਮ ਪਰੇ ਹਾਰਿ ਤੁਮ ਸਰਨਭਾ ॥
tumare gun tum hee prabh jaanahu ham pare haar tum saranabhaa ||
O God, You alone know Your Glorious Virtues; I have grown weary - I seek Your Sanctuary.
ਜਿਉ ਜਾਨਹੁ ਤਿਉ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਦਾਸੁ ਤੁਮਨਭਾ ॥੪॥੬॥ ਛਕਾ ੧ ॥
jiu jaanahu tiu raakhahu suaamee jan naanak daas tumanabhaa ||4||6|| chhakaa 1 ||
As You know best, You preserve and protect me, O my Lord and Master; servant Nanak is Your slave. ||4||6|| First Set of Six||

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaad ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਧਾਨ ॥
jap man har har naam nidhaan ||
O mind, meditate on the Treasure of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਹਰਿ ਦਰਗਹ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨ ॥
har daragah paavahi maan ||
You shall be honored in the Court of the Lord.
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਪਿਆ ਤੇ ਪਾਰਿ ਪਰਾਨ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jin japiaa te paar paraan ||1|| rahaau ||
Those who chant and meditate shall be carried across to the other shore. ||1||Pause||
ਸੁਨਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਕਰਿ ਧਿਆਨੁ ॥
sun man har har naam kar dhiaan ||
Listen, O mind: meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.
ਸੁਨਿ ਮਨ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਅਠਸਠਿ ਮਜਾਨੁ ॥
sun man har keerat athasath majaan ||
Listen, O mind: the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises is equal to bathing at the sixty-eight sacred shrines of pilgrimage.
ਸੁਨਿ ਮਨ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਮਾਨੁ ॥੧॥
sun man guramukh paavahi maan ||1||
Listen, O mind: as Gurmukh, you shall be blessed with honor. ||1||
ਜਪਿ ਮਨ ਪਰਮੇਸੁਰੁ ਪਰਧਾਨੁ ॥
jap man paramesur paradhaan ||
O mind, chant and meditate on the Supreme Transcendent Lord God.
ਖਿਨ ਖੋਵੈ ਪਾਪ ਕੋਟਾਨ ॥
khin khovai paap kotaan ||
Millions of sins shall be destroyed in an instant.
ਮਿਲੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਰਿ ਭਗਵਾਨ ॥੨॥੧॥੭॥
mil naanak har bhagavaan ||2||1||7||
O Nanak, you shall meet with the Lord God. ||2||1||7||
ਪ੍ਰਭਾਤੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ਬਿਭਾਸ ॥

Prabhaatee, Fifth Mehl, Bibhaas:
ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥
ikOankaar satigur prasaad ||
One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:
ਮਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਕੀਆ ਤਨੁ ਸਭੁ ਸਾਜਿਆ ॥
man har keeaa tan sabh saajiaa ||
The Lord created the mind, and fashioned the entire body.
ਪੰਚ ਤਤ ਰਚਿ ਜੋਤਿ ਨਿਵਾਜਿਆ ॥
pa(n)ch tat rach jot nivaajiaa ||
From the five elements, He formed it, and infused His Light within it.
ਸਿਹਜਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਬਰਤਨ ਕਉ ਪਾਨੀ ॥
sihajaa dharat baratan kau paanee ||
He made the earth its bed, and water for it to use.
ਨਿਮਖ ਨ ਵਿਸਾਰਹੁ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਸਾਰਿਗਪਾਨੀ ॥੧॥
nimakh na visaarahu sevahu saarigapaanee ||1||
Do not forget Him for an instant; serve the Lord of the World. ||1||
ਮਨ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਿ ਹੋਇ ਪਰਮ ਗਤੇ ॥
man satigur sev hoi param gate ||
O mind, serve the True Guru, and obtain the supreme status.
ਹਰਖ ਸੋਗ ਤੇ ਰਹਹਿ ਨਿਰਾਰਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੂ ਪਾਵਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨਪਤੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
harakh sog te rahahi niraaraa taa(n) too paavahi praanapate ||1|| rahaau ||
If you remain unattached and unaffected by sorrow and joy, then you shall find the Lord of Life. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਪੜ ਭੋਗ ਰਸ ਅਨਿਕ ਭੁੰਚਾਏ ॥
kaapaR bhog ras anik bhu(n)chaae ||
He makes all the various pleasures, clothes and foods for you to enjoy.
ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਕੁਟੰਬ ਸਗਲ ਬਨਾਏ ॥
maat pitaa kuta(n)b sagal banaae ||
He made your mother, father and all relatives.
ਰਿਜਕੁ ਸਮਾਹੇ ਜਲਿ ਥਲਿ ਮੀਤ ॥
rijak samaahe jal thal meet ||
He provides sustenance to all, in the water and on the land, O friend.
ਸੋ ਹਰਿ ਸੇਵਹੁ ਨੀਤਾ ਨੀਤ ॥੨॥
so har sevahu neetaa neet ||2||
So serve the Lord, forever and ever. ||2||
ਤਹਾ ਸਖਾਈ ਜਹ ਕੋਇ ਨ ਹੋਵੈ ॥
tahaa sakhaaee jah koi na hovai ||
He shall be your Helper and Support there, where no one else can help you.
ਕੋਟਿ ਅਪ੍ਰਾਧ ਇਕ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਧੋਵੈ ॥
kot apraadh ik khin mahi dhovai ||
He washes away millions of sins in an instant.
ਦਾਤਿ ਕਰੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਛੋੁਤਾਵੈ ॥
daat karai nahee pachhoutaavai ||
He bestows His Gifts, and never regrets them.
ਏਕਾ ਬਖਸ ਫਿਰਿ ਬਹੁਰਿ ਨ ਬੁਲਾਵੈ ॥੩॥
ekaa bakhas phir bahur na bulaavai ||3||
He forgives, once and for all, and never asks for one's account again. ||3||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਆਪੁ ਧਰਿਓ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਮਹਿ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਇਕਫਾ ॥੪॥੫॥
har har aap dhario har jan mahi jan naanak har prabh ikaphaa ||4||5||
The Lord, Har, Har, has enshrined Himself within His humble servant. O Nanak, the Lord God and His servant are one and the same. ||4||5||
