ਲਾਲ ਲਾਲ ਮੋਹਨ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਤੂ ॥
laal laal mohan gopaal too ||
You are my Loving Beloved Enticing Lord of the World.
ਕੀਟ ਹਸਤਿ ਪਾਖਾਣ ਜੰਤ ਸਰਬ ਮੈ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਪਾਲ ਤੂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
keet hasat paakhaan ja(n)t sarab mai pratipaal too ||1|| rahaau ||
You are in worms, elephants, stones and all beings and creatures; You nourish and cherish them all. ||1||Pause||
ਨਹ ਦੂਰਿ ਪੂਰਿ ਹਜੂਰਿ ਸੰਗੇ ॥
nah door poor hajoor sa(n)ge ||
You are not far away; You are totally present with all.
ਸੁੰਦਰ ਰਸਾਲ ਤੂ ॥੧॥
su(n)dar rasaal too ||1||
You are Beautiful, the Source of Nectar. ||1||
ਨਹ ਬਰਨ ਬਰਨ ਨਹ ਕੁਲਹ ਕੁਲ ॥
nah baran baran nah kulah kul ||
You have no caste or social class, no ancestry or family.

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਕਰਤ ਕੇਲ ਬਿਖੈ ਮੇਲ ਚੰਦ੍ਰ ਸੂਰ ਮੋਹੇ ॥
karat kel bikhai mel cha(n)dr soor mohe ||
Acting and play-acting, the mortal sinks into corruption. Even the moon and the sun are enticed and bewitched.
ਉਪਜਤਾ ਬਿਕਾਰ ਦੁੰਦਰ ਨਉਪਰੀ ਝੁਨੰਤਕਾਰ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅਨਿਗ ਭਾਉ ਕਰਤ ਫਿਰਤ ਬਿਨੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਧੋਹੇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
upajataa bikaar du(n)dar nauparee jhuna(n)takaar su(n)dar anig bhaau karat phirat bin gopaal dhohe || rahaau ||
The disturbing noise of corruption wells up, in the tinkling ankle bells of Maya the beautiful. With her beguiling gestures of love, she seduces everyone except the Lord. ||Pause||
ਤੀਨਿ ਭਉਨੇ ਲਪਟਾਇ ਰਹੀ ਕਾਚ ਕਰਮਿ ਨ ਜਾਤ ਸਹੀ ਉਨਮਤ ਅੰਧ ਧੰਧ ਰਚਿਤ ਜੈਸੇ ਮਹਾ ਸਾਗਰ ਹੋਹੇ ॥੧॥
teen bhaune lapataai rahee kaach karam na jaat sahee unamat a(n)dh dha(n)dh rachit jaise mahaa saagar hohe ||1||
Maya clings to the three worlds; those who are stuck in wrong actions cannot escape her. Drunk and engrossed in blind worldly affairs, they are tossed about on the mighty ocean. ||1||
ਉਧਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੰਤ ਦਾਸ ਕਾਟਿ ਦੀਨੀ ਜਮ ਕੀ ਫਾਸ ਪਤਿਤ ਪਾਵਨ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਾ ਕੋ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਓਹੇ ॥੨॥੧੦॥੧੩੯॥੩॥੧੩॥੧੫੫॥
udhare har sa(n)t daas kaat deenee jam kee phaas patit paavan naam jaa ko simar naanak ohe ||2||10||139||3||13||155||
The Saint, the slave of the Lord is saved; the noose of the Messenger of Death is snapped. The Naam, the Name of the Lord, is the Purifier of sinners; O Nanak, remember Him in meditation. ||2||10||139||3||13||155||

Raag Saarang, Ninth Mehl:
ਹਰਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਤੇਰੋ ਕੋ ਨ ਸਹਾਈ ॥
har bin tero ko na sahaaee ||
No one will be your help and support, except the Lord.
ਕਾਂ ਕੀ ਮਾਤ ਪਿਤਾ ਸੁਤ ਬਨਿਤਾ ਕੋ ਕਾਹੂ ਕੋ ਭਾਈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
kaa(n) kee maat pitaa sut banitaa ko kaahoo ko bhaaee ||1|| rahaau ||
Who has any mother, father, child or spouse? Who is anyone's brother or sister? ||1||Pause||
ਧਨੁ ਧਰਨੀ ਅਰੁ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਸਗਰੀ ਜੋ ਮਾਨਿਓ ਅਪਨਾਈ ॥
dhan dharanee ar sa(n)pat sagaree jo maanio apanaaee ||
All the wealth, land and property which you consider your own
ਤਨ ਛੂਟੈ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਚਾਲੈ ਕਹਾ ਤਾਹਿ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥੧॥
tan chhootai kachh sa(n)g na chaalai kahaa taahi lapataaee ||1||
- when you leave your body, none of it shall go along with you. Why do you cling to them? ||1||
ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲ ਸਦਾ ਦੁਖ ਭੰਜਨ ਤਾ ਸਿਉ ਰੁਚਿ ਨ ਬਢਾਈ ॥
deen daiaal sadaa dukh bha(n)jan taa siu ruch na badhaaee ||
God is Merciful to the meek, forever the Destroyer of fear, and yet you do not develop any loving relationship with Him.
ਨਾਨਕ ਕਹਤ ਜਗਤ ਸਭ ਮਿਥਿਆ ਜਿਉ ਸੁਪਨਾ ਰੈਨਾਈ ॥੨॥੧॥
naanak kahat jagat sabh mithiaa jiu supanaa rainaaee ||2||1||
Says Nanak, the whole world is totally false; it is like a dream in the night. ||2||1||

Saarang, Ninth Mehl:
ਕਹਾ ਮਨ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਸਿਉ ਲਪਟਾਹੀ ॥
kahaa man bikhiaa siu lapataahee ||
O mortal, why are you engrossed in corruption?
ਯਾ ਜਗ ਮਹਿ ਕੋਊ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਪਾਵੈ ਇਕਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਇਕਿ ਜਾਹੀ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
yaa jag mahi kooo rahan na paavai ik aavahi ik jaahee ||1|| rahaau ||
No one is allowed to remain in this world; one comes, and another departs. ||1||Pause||
ਕਾਂ ਕੋ ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਸੰਪਤਿ ਕਾਂ ਕੀ ਕਾ ਸਿਉ ਨੇਹੁ ਲਗਾਹੀ ॥
kaa(n) ko tan dhan sa(n)pat kaa(n) kee kaa siu nehu lagaahee ||
Who has a body? Who has wealth and property? With whom should we fall in love?
ਜੋ ਦੀਸੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਦਰ ਕੀ ਛਾਹੀ ॥੧॥
jo deesai so sagal binaasai jiu baadar kee chhaahee ||1||
Whatever is seen, shall all disappear, like the shade of a passing cloud. ||1||
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਸਰਣਿ ਸੰਤਨ ਗਹੁ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਹੋਹਿ ਛਿਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
taj abhimaan saran sa(n)tan gahu mukat hohi chhin maahee ||
Abandon egotism, and grasp the Sanctuary of the Saints; you shall be liberated in an instant.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਗਵੰਤ ਭਜਨ ਬਿਨੁ ਸੁਖੁ ਸੁਪਨੈ ਭੀ ਨਾਹੀ ॥੨॥੨॥
jan naanak bhagava(n)t bhajan bin sukh supanai bhee naahee ||2||2||
O servant Nanak, without meditating and vibrating on the Lord God, there is no peace, even in dreams. ||2||2||

Saarang, Ninth Mehl:
ਕਹਾ ਨਰ ਅਪਨੋ ਜਨਮੁ ਗਵਾਵੈ ॥
kahaa nar apano janam gavaavai ||
O mortal, why have you wasted your life?
ਮਾਇਆ ਮਦਿ ਬਿਖਿਆ ਰਸਿ ਰਚਿਓ ਰਾਮ ਸਰਨਿ ਨਹੀ ਆਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
maaiaa mad bikhiaa ras rachio raam saran nahee aavai ||1|| rahaau ||
Intoxicated with Maya and its riches, involved in corrupt pleasures, you have not sought the Sanctuary of the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਸਗਲ ਹੈ ਸੁਪਨੋ ਦੇਖਿ ਕਹਾ ਲੋਭਾਵੈ ॥
ihu sa(n)saar sagal hai supano dekh kahaa lobhaavai ||
This whole world is just a dream; why does seeing it fill you with greed?
ਜੋ ਉਪਜੈ ਸੋ ਸਗਲ ਬਿਨਾਸੈ ਰਹਨੁ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਪਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
jo upajai so sagal binaasai rahan na kooo paavai ||1||
Everything that has been created will be destroyed; nothing will remain. ||1||
ਮਿਥਿਆ ਤਨੁ ਸਾਚੋ ਕਰਿ ਮਾਨਿਓ ਇਹ ਬਿਧਿ ਆਪੁ ਬੰਧਾਵੈ ॥
mithiaa tan saacho kar maanio ih bidh aap ba(n)dhaavai ||
You see this false body as true; in this way, you have placed yourself in bondage.
ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੋਊ ਜਨੁ ਮੁਕਤਾ ਰਾਮ ਭਜਨ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੩॥
jan naanak sooo jan mukataa raam bhajan chit laavai ||2||3||
O servant Nanak, he is a liberated being, whose consciousness lovingly vibrates, and meditates on the Lord. ||2||3||

ਮਨ ਕਰਿ ਕਬਹੂ ਨ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਨ ਗਾਇਓ ॥
man kar kabahoo na har gun gaaio ||
In my mind, I never sang the Glorious Praises of the Lord.
