Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਮੇਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਮੋਰੋ ਸਹਸਾ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ॥
merai gur moro sahasaa utaariaa ||
My Guru has rid me of my cynicism.
ਤਿਸੁ ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਜਾਈਐ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਉ ਵਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tis gur kai jaaeeai balihaaree sadaa sadaa hau vaariaa ||1|| rahaau ||
I am a sacrifice to that Guru; I am devoted to Him, forever and ever. ||1||Pause||
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਿਓ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਨ ਮਨਿ ਧਾਰਿਆ ॥
gur kaa naam japio din raatee gur ke charan man dhaariaa ||
I chant the Guru's Name day and night; I enshrine the Guru's Feet within my mind.
ਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਧੂਰਿ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਮਜਨੁ ਕਿਲਵਿਖ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੧॥
gur kee dhoor karau nit majan kilavikh mail utaariaa ||1||
I bathe continually in the dust of the Guru's Feet, washing off my dirty sins. ||1||
ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਕੀ ਕਰਉ ਨਿਤ ਸੇਵਾ ਗੁਰੁ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਮਸਕਾਰਿਆ ॥
gur poore kee karau nit sevaa gur apanaa namasakaariaa ||
I continually serve the Perfect Guru; I humbly bow to my Guru.
ਸਰਬ ਫਲਾ ਦੀਨੑੇ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਨਿਸਤਾਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੪੭॥੭੦॥
sarab phalaa deenhe gur poorai naanak gur nisataariaa ||2||47||70||
The Perfect Guru has blessed me with all fruitful rewards; O Nanak, the Guru has emancipated me. ||2||47||70||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਗਤਿ ਪਾਵੈ ॥
simarat naam praan gat paavai ||
Meditating in remembrance on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the mortal attains salvation.
ਮਿਟਹਿ ਕਲੇਸ ਤ੍ਰਾਸ ਸਭ ਨਾਸੈ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਹਿਤੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
mitahi kales traas sabh naasai saadhasa(n)g hit laavai ||1|| rahaau ||
His sorrows are dispelled, and his fears are all erased; he is in love with the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy. ||1||Pause||
ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਮਨਿ ਆਰਾਧੇ ਰਸਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵੈ ॥
har har har har man aaraadhe rasanaa har jas gaavai ||
His mind worships and adores the Lord, Har, Har, Har, Har; his tongue sings the Praises of the Lord.
ਤਜਿ ਅਭਿਮਾਨੁ ਕਾਮ ਕ੍ਰੋਧੁ ਨਿੰਦਾ ਬਾਸੁਦੇਵ ਰੰਗੁ ਲਾਵੈ ॥੧॥
taj abhimaan kaam krodh ni(n)daa baasudev ra(n)g laavai ||1||
Abandoning egotistical pride, sexual desire, anger and slander, he embraces love for the Lord. ||1||
ਦਾਮੋਦਰ ਦਇਆਲ ਆਰਾਧਹੁ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਕਰਤ ਸੋੁਹਾਵੈ ॥
daamodar daiaal aaraadhahu gobi(n)d karat souhaavai ||
Worship and adore the Merciful Lord God; chanting the Name of the Lord of the Universe, you shall be embellished and exalted.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਭ ਕੀ ਹੋਇ ਰੇਨਾ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਦਰਸਿ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੨॥੪੮॥੭੧॥
kahu naanak sabh kee hoi renaa har har daras samaavai ||2||48||71||
Says Nanak, whoever becomes the dust of all, merges in the Blesed Vision of the Lord, Har, Har. ||2||48||71||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰੇ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੈ ॥
apune gur poore balihaarai ||
I am a sacrifice to my Perfect Guru.
ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਪ੍ਰਤਾਪੁ ਕੀਓ ਨਾਮ ਕੋ ਰਾਖੇ ਰਾਖਨਹਾਰੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
pragat prataap keeo naam ko raakhe raakhanahaarai ||1|| rahaau ||
My Savior Lord has saved me; He has revealed the Glory of His Name. ||1||Pause||
ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕੀਏ ਸੇਵਕ ਦਾਸ ਅਪਨੇ ਸਗਲੇ ਦੂਖ ਬਿਦਾਰੈ ॥
nirabhau keee sevak daas apane sagale dookh bidaarai ||
He makes His servants and slaves fearless, and takes away all their pain.
ਆਨ ਉਪਾਵ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਜਨ ਸਗਲੇ ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਰਿਦ ਧਾਰੈ ॥੧॥
aan upaav tiaag jan sagale charan kamal rid dhaarai ||1||
So renounce all other efforts, and enshrine the Lord's Lotus Feet within your mind. ||1||
ਪ੍ਰਾਨ ਅਧਾਰ ਮੀਤ ਸਾਜਨ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਏਕੈ ਏਕੰਕਾਰੈ ॥
praan adhaar meet saajan prabh ekai eka(n)kaarai ||
God is the Support of the breath of life, my Best Friend and Companion, the One and Only Creator of the Universe.
ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਚ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਾ ਬਾਰ ਬਾਰ ਨਮਸਕਾਰੈ ॥੨॥੪੯॥੭੨॥
sabh te ooch thaakur naanak kaa baar baar namasakaarai ||2||49||72||
Nanak's Lord and Master is the Highest of all; again and again, I humbly bow to Him. ||2||49||72||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਬਿਨੁ ਹਰਿ ਹੈ ਕੋ ਕਹਾ ਬਤਾਵਹੁ ॥
bin har hai ko kahaa bataavahu ||
Tell me: other than the Lord, who exists?
ਸੁਖ ਸਮੂਹ ਕਰੁਣਾ ਮੈ ਕਰਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਸਦਾ ਧਿਆਵਹੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
sukh samooh karunaa mai karataa tis prabh sadaa dhiaavahu ||1|| rahaau ||
The Creator, the Embodiment of Mercy, bestows all comforts; meditate forever on that God. ||1||Pause||
ਜਾ ਕੈ ਸੂਤਿ ਪਰੋਏ ਜੰਤਾ ਤਿਸੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਜਸੁ ਗਾਵਹੁ ॥
jaa kai soot paroe ja(n)taa tis prabh kaa jas gaavahu ||
All creatures are strung on His Thread; sing the Praises of that God.
ਸਿਮਰਿ ਠਾਕੁਰੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਸਭੁ ਕਿਛੁ ਦੀਨਾ ਆਨ ਕਹਾ ਪਹਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੧॥
simar thaakur jin sabh kichh deenaa aan kahaa pahi jaavahu ||1||
Meditate in remembrance on that Lord and Master who gives you everything. Why would you go to anyone else? ||1||
ਸਫਲ ਸੇਵਾ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਬਾਂਛਤ ਫਲ ਪਾਵਹੁ ॥
saphal sevaa suaamee mere kee man baa(n)chhat phal paavahu ||
Service to my Lord and Master is fruitful and rewarding; from Him, you shall obtain the fruits of your mind's desires.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਲਾਭੁ ਲਾਹਾ ਲੈ ਚਾਲਹੁ ਸੁਖ ਸੇਤੀ ਘਰਿ ਜਾਵਹੁ ॥੨॥੫੦॥੭੩॥
kahu naanak laabh laahaa lai chaalahu sukh setee ghar jaavahu ||2||50||73||
Says Nanak, take your profits and leave; you shall go to your true home in peace. ||2||50||73||

Saarang, Fifth Mehl:
ਠਾਕੁਰ ਤੁਮੑ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਆਇਆ ॥
thaakur tumh saranaaee aaiaa ||
O my Lord and Master, I have come to Your Sanctuary.
ਉਤਰਿ ਗਇਓ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਸੰਸਾ ਜਬ ਤੇ ਦਰਸਨੁ ਪਾਇਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
utar gaio mere man kaa sa(n)saa jab te darasan paaiaa ||1|| rahaau ||
The anxiety of my mind departed, when I gazed upon the Blessed Vision of Your Darshan. ||1||Pause||
ਅਨਬੋਲਤ ਮੇਰੀ ਬਿਰਥਾ ਜਾਨੀ ਅਪਨਾ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪਾਇਆ ॥
anabolat meree birathaa jaanee apanaa naam japaaiaa ||
You know my condition, without my speaking. You inspire me to chant Your Name.
ਦੁਖ ਨਾਠੇ ਸੁਖ ਸਹਜਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਅਨਦ ਅਨਦ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਇਆ ॥੧॥
dukh naathe sukh sahaj samaae anad anad gun gaaiaa ||1||
My pains are gone, and I am absorbed in peace, poise and bliss, singing Your Glorious Praises. ||1||
ਬਾਹ ਪਕਰਿ ਕਢਿ ਲੀਨੇ ਅਪੁਨੇ ਗ੍ਰਿਹ ਅੰਧ ਕੂਪ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ ॥
baah pakar kadh leene apune grih a(n)dh koop te maaiaa ||
Taking me by the arm, You lifted me up, out of the deep dark pit of household and Maya.
ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੰਧਨ ਕਾਟੇ ਬਿਛੁਰਤ ਆਨਿ ਮਿਲਾਇਆ ॥੨॥੫੧॥੭੪॥
kahu naanak gur ba(n)dhan kaate bichhurat aan milaaiaa ||2||51||74||
Says Nanak, the Guru has broken my bonds, and ended my separation; He has united me with God. ||2||51||74||
