ਤੂ ਆਪੇ ਕਰਤਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਕੀਆ ਸਭੁ ਹੋਇ ॥

too aape karataa teraa keeaa sabh hoi ||

You Yourself are the Creator. Everything that happens is by Your Doing.

ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਦੂਜਾ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥

tudh bin doojaa avar na koi ||

There is no one except You.

ਤੂ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਵੇਖਹਿ ਜਾਣਹਿ ਸੋਇ ॥

too kar kar vekhahi jaanahi soi ||

You created the creation; You behold it and understand it.

ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਰਗਟੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੪॥੨॥

jan naanak guramukh paragat hoi ||4||2||

O servant Nanak, the Lord is revealed through the Gurmukh, the Living Expression of the Guru's Word. ||4||2||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

aasaa mahalaa 1 ||

Aasaa, First Mehl:

ਤਿਤੁ ਸਰਵਰੜੈ ਭਈਲੇ ਨਿਵਾਸਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਪਾਵਕੁ ਤਿਨਹਿ ਕੀਆ ॥

tit saravaraRai bhaeele nivaasaa paanee paavak tinahi keeaa ||

In that pool, people have made their homes, but the water there is as hot as fire!

ਪੰਕਜੁ ਮੋਹ ਪਗੁ ਨਹੀ ਚਾਲੈ ਹਮ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਡੂਬੀਅਲੇ ॥੧॥

pa(n)kaj moh pag nahee chaalai ham dekhaa tah doobeeale ||1||

In the swamp of emotional attachment, their feet cannot move. I have seen them drowning there. ||1||

ਮਨ ਏਕੁ ਨ ਚੇਤਸਿ ਮੂੜ ਮਨਾ ॥

man ek na chetas mooR manaa ||

In your mind, you do not remember the One Lord-you fool!

ਹਰਿ ਬਿਸਰਤ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਲਿਆ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

har bisarat tere gun galiaa ||1|| rahaau ||

You have forgotten the Lord; your virtues shall wither away. ||1||Pause||

ਨਾ ਹਉ ਜਤੀ ਸਤੀ ਨਹੀ ਪੜਿਆ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧਾ ਜਨਮੁ ਭਇਆ ॥

naa hau jatee satee nahee paRiaa moorakh mugadhaa janam bhaiaa ||

I am not celibate, nor truthful, nor scholarly. I was born foolish and ignorant into this world.

ਪ੍ਰਣਵਤਿ ਨਾਨਕ ਤਿਨ ਕੀ ਸਰਣਾ ਜਿਨ ਤੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਵੀਸਰਿਆ ॥੨॥੩॥

pranavat naanak tin kee saranaa jin too naahee veesariaa ||2||3||

Prays Nanak, I seek the Sanctuary of those who have not forgotten You, O Lord! ||2||3||

ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੫ ॥

Aasaa, Fifth Mehl:

ਭਈ ਪਰਾਪਤਿ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਦੇਹੁਰੀਆ ॥

bhaee paraapat maanukh dehureeaa ||

This human body has been given to you.

ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਮਿਲਣ ਕੀ ਇਹ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਰੀਆ ॥

gobi(n)d milan kee ih teree bareeaa ||

This is your chance to meet the Lord of the Universe.

ਅਵਰਿ ਕਾਜ ਤੇਰੈ ਕਿਤੈ ਨ ਕਾਮ ॥

avar kaaj terai kitai na kaam ||

Nothing else will work.

ਮਿਲੁ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਤਿ ਭਜੁ ਕੇਵਲ ਨਾਮ ॥੧॥

mil saadhasa(n)gat bhaj keval naam ||1||

Join the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy; vibrate and meditate on the Jewel of the Naam. ||1||

ਸਰੰਜਾਮਿ ਲਾਗੁ ਭਵਜਲ ਤਰਨ ਕੈ ॥

sara(n)jaam laag bhavajal taran kai ||

Make every effort to cross over this terrifying world-ocean.

ਜਨਮੁ ਬ੍ਰਿਥਾ ਜਾਤ ਰੰਗਿ ਮਾਇਆ ਕੈ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

janam brithaa jaat ra(n)g maaiaa kai ||1|| rahaau ||

You are squandering this life uselessly in the love of Maya. ||1||Pause||

ਜਪੁ ਤਪੁ ਸੰਜਮੁ ਧਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਮਾਇਆ ॥

jap tap sa(n)jam dharam na kamaaiaa ||

I have not practiced meditation, self-discipline, self-restraint or righteous living.

ਸੇਵਾ ਸਾਧ ਨ ਜਾਨਿਆ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇਆ ॥

sevaa saadh na jaaniaa har raaiaa ||

I have not served the Holy; I have not acknowledged the Lord, my King.

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਹਮ ਨੀਚ ਕਰੰਮਾ ॥

kahu naanak ham neech kara(n)maa ||

Says Nanak, my actions are contemptible!

ਸਰਣਿ ਪਰੇ ਕੀ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਸਰਮਾ ॥੨॥੪॥

saran pare kee raakhahu saramaa ||2||4||

O Lord, I seek Your Sanctuary; please, preserve my honor! ||2||4||

ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਰਾਗੁ ਗਉੜੀ ਦੀਪਕੀ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

Sohilaa ~ The Song Of Praise. Raag Gauree Deepakee, First Mehl:

ੴ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪ੍ਰਸਾਦਿ ॥

ikOankaar satigur prasaad ||

One Universal Creator God. By The Grace Of The True Guru:

ਜੈ ਘਰਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਆਖੀਐ ਕਰਤੇ ਕਾ ਹੋਇ ਬੀਚਾਰੋ ॥

jai ghar keerat aakheeai karate kaa hoi beechaaro ||

In that house where the Praises of the Creator are chanted and contemplated

ਤਿਤੁ ਘਰਿ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ਸਿਵਰਿਹੁ ਸਿਰਜਣਹਾਰੋ ॥੧॥

tit ghar gaavahu sohilaa sivarihu sirajanahaaro ||1||

-in that house, sing Songs of Praise; meditate and remember the Creator Lord. ||1||

ਤੁਮ ਗਾਵਹੁ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਿਰਭਉ ਕਾ ਸੋਹਿਲਾ ॥

tum gaavahu mere nirabhau kaa sohilaa ||

Sing the Songs of Praise of my Fearless Lord.

ਹਉ ਵਾਰੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਸੋਹਿਲੈ ਸਦਾ ਸੁਖੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

hau vaaree jit sohilai sadaa sukh hoi ||1|| rahaau ||

I am a sacrifice to that Song of Praise which brings eternal peace. ||1||Pause||

ਨਿਤ ਨਿਤ ਜੀਅੜੇ ਸਮਾਲੀਅਨਿ ਦੇਖੈਗਾ ਦੇਵਣਹਾਰੁ ॥

nit nit jeeaRe samaaleean dekhaigaa devanahaar ||

Day after day, He cares for His beings; the Great Giver watches over all.

ਤੇਰੇ ਦਾਨੈ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਦਾਤੇ ਕਵਣੁ ਸੁਮਾਰੁ ॥੨॥

tere daanai keemat naa pavai tis daate kavan sumaar ||2||

Your Gifts cannot be appraised; how can anyone compare to the Giver? ||2||

ਸੰਬਤਿ ਸਾਹਾ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਵਹੁ ਤੇਲੁ ॥

sa(n)bat saahaa likhiaa mil kar paavahu tel ||

The day of my wedding is pre-ordained. Come, gather together and pour the oil over the threshold.

ਦੇਹੁ ਸਜਣ ਅਸੀਸੜੀਆ ਜਿਉ ਹੋਵੈ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਿਉ ਮੇਲੁ ॥੩॥

dehu sajan aseesaReeaa jiu hovai saahib siu mel ||3||

My friends, give me your blessings, that I may merge with my Lord and Master. ||3||

ਘਰਿ ਘਰਿ ਏਹੋ ਪਾਹੁਚਾ ਸਦੜੇ ਨਿਤ ਪਵੰਨਿ ॥

ghar ghar eho paahuchaa sadaRe nit pava(n)n ||

Unto each and every home, into each and every heart, this summons is sent out; the call comes each and every day.

ਸਦਣਹਾਰਾ ਸਿਮਰੀਐ ਨਾਨਕ ਸੇ ਦਿਹ ਆਵੰਨਿ ॥੪॥੧॥

sadanahaaraa simareeai naanak se dih aava(n)n ||4||1||

Remember in meditation the One who summons us; O Nanak, that day is drawing near! ||4||1||

ਰਾਗੁ ਆਸਾ ਮਹਲਾ ੧ ॥

raag aasaa mahalaa 1 ||

Raag Aasaa, First Mehl:

ਛਿਅ ਘਰ ਛਿਅ ਗੁਰ ਛਿਅ ਉਪਦੇਸ ॥

chhi ghar chhi gur chhi upades ||

There are six schools of philosophy, six teachers, and six sets of teachings.

ਗੁਰੁ ਗੁਰੁ ਏਕੋ ਵੇਸ ਅਨੇਕ ॥੧॥

gur gur eko ves anek ||1||

But the Teacher of teachers is the One, who appears in so many forms. ||1||

ਬਾਬਾ ਜੈ ਘਰਿ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹੋਇ ॥

baabaa jai ghar karate keerat hoi ||

O Baba: that system in which the Praises of the Creator are sung

ਸੋ ਘਰੁ ਰਾਖੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਤੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥

so ghar raakh vadaaee toi ||1|| rahaau ||

-follow that system; in it rests true greatness. ||1||Pause||

ਵਿਸੁਏ ਚਸਿਆ ਘੜੀਆ ਪਹਰਾ ਥਿਤੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਮਾਹੁ ਹੋਆ ॥

visue chasiaa ghaReeaa paharaa thitee vaaree maahu hoaa ||

The seconds, minutes and hours, days, weeks and months,

ਸੂਰਜੁ ਏਕੋ ਰੁਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ॥ ਨਾਨਕ ਕਰਤੇ ਕੇ ਕੇਤੇ ਵੇਸ ॥੨॥੨॥

sooraj eko rut anek || naanak karate ke kete ves ||2||2||

And the various seasons originate from the one sun; O Nanak, in just the same way, the many forms originate from the Creator. ||2||2||
