ਜਿਹ ਘਟੈ ਮੂਲੁ ਨਿਤ ਬਢੈ ਬਿਆਜੁ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jih ghatai mool nit badhai biaaj || rahaau ||
It depletes my capital, and the interest charges only increase. ||Pause||
ਸਾਤ ਸੂਤ ਮਿਲਿ ਬਨਜੁ ਕੀਨ ॥
saat soot mil banaj keen ||
Weaving the seven threads together, they carry on their trade.
ਕਰਮ ਭਾਵਨੀ ਸੰਗ ਲੀਨ ॥
karam bhaavanee sa(n)g leen ||
They are led on by the karma of their past actions.
ਤੀਨਿ ਜਗਾਤੀ ਕਰਤ ਰਾਰਿ ॥
teen jagaatee karat raar ||
The three tax-collectors argue with them.
ਚਲੋ ਬਨਜਾਰਾ ਹਾਥ ਝਾਰਿ ॥੨॥
chalo banajaaraa haath jhaar ||2||
The traders depart empty-handed. ||2||
ਪੂੰਜੀ ਹਿਰਾਨੀ ਬਨਜੁ ਟੂਟ ॥
poo(n)jee hiraanee banaj toot ||
Their capital is exhausted, and their trade is ruined.
ਦਹ ਦਿਸ ਟਾਂਡੋ ਗਇਓ ਫੂਟਿ ॥
dah dis taa(n)do gaio phoot ||
The caravan is scattered in the ten directions.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਮਨ ਸਰਸੀ ਕਾਜ ॥
kahi kabeer man sarasee kaaj ||
Says Kabeer, O mortal, your tasks will be accomplished,
ਸਹਜ ਸਮਾਨੋ ਤ ਭਰਮ ਭਾਜ ॥੩॥੬॥
sahaj samaano ta bharam bhaaj ||3||6||
when you merge in the Celestial Lord; let your doubts run away. ||3||6||

ਮਾਤਾ ਜੂਠੀ ਪਿਤਾ ਭੀ ਜੂਠਾ ਜੂਠੇ ਹੀ ਫਲ ਲਾਗੇ ॥
maataa joothee pitaa bhee joothaa joothe hee phal laage ||
The mother is impure, and the father is impure. The fruit they produce is impure.
ਆਵਹਿ ਜੂਠੇ ਜਾਹਿ ਭੀ ਜੂਠੇ ਜੂਠੇ ਮਰਹਿ ਅਭਾਗੇ ॥੧॥
aavahi joothe jaahi bhee joothe joothe marahi abhaage ||1||
Impure they come, and impure they go. The unfortunate ones die in impurity. ||1||
ਕਹੁ ਪੰਡਿਤ ਸੂਚਾ ਕਵਨੁ ਠਾਉ ॥
kahu pa(n)dit soochaa kavan thaau ||
Tell me, O Pandit, O religious scholar, which place is uncontaminated?
ਜਹਾਂ ਬੈਸਿ ਹਉ ਭੋਜਨੁ ਖਾਉ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
jahaa(n) bais hau bhojan khaau ||1|| rahaau ||
Where should I sit to eat my meal? ||1||Pause||
ਜਿਹਬਾ ਜੂਠੀ ਬੋਲਤ ਜੂਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਨੇਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਜੂਠੇ ॥
jihabaa joothee bolat joothaa karan netr sabh joothe ||
The tongue is impure, and its speech is impure. The eyes and ears are totally impure.
ਇੰਦ੍ਰੀ ਕੀ ਜੂਠਿ ਉਤਰਸਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਗਨਿ ਕੇ ਲੂਠੇ ॥੨॥
i(n)dree kee jooth utaras naahee braham agan ke loothe ||2||
The impurity of the sexual organs does not depart; the Brahmin is burnt by the fire. ||2||
ਅਗਨਿ ਭੀ ਜੂਠੀ ਪਾਨੀ ਜੂਠਾ ਜੂਠੀ ਬੈਸਿ ਪਕਾਇਆ ॥
agan bhee joothee paanee joothaa joothee bais pakaaiaa ||
The fire is impure, and the water is impure. The place where you sit and cook is impure.
ਜੂਠੀ ਕਰਛੀ ਪਰੋਸਨ ਲਾਗਾ ਜੂਠੇ ਹੀ ਬੈਠਿ ਖਾਇਆ ॥੩॥
joothee karachhee parosan laagaa joothe hee baith khaaiaa ||3||
Impure is the ladle which serves the food. Impure is the one who sits down to eat it. ||3||
ਗੋਬਰੁ ਜੂਠਾ ਚਉਕਾ ਜੂਠਾ ਜੂਠੀ ਦੀਨੀ ਕਾਰਾ ॥
gobar joothaa chaukaa joothaa joothee deenee kaaraa ||
Impure is the cow dung, and impure is the kitchen square. Impure are the lines that mark it off.
ਕਹਿ ਕਬੀਰ ਤੇਈ ਨਰ ਸੂਚੇ ਸਾਚੀ ਪਰੀ ਬਿਚਾਰਾ ॥੪॥੧॥੭॥
kahi kabeer teee nar sooche saachee paree bichaaraa ||4||1||7||
Says Kabeer, they alone are pure, who have obtained pure understanding. ||4||1||7||

ਕਤ ਜਾਈਐ ਰੇ ਘਰ ਲਾਗੋ ਰੰਗੁ ॥
kat jaaeeai re ghar laago ra(n)g ||
Where should I go? My home is filled with bliss.
ਮੇਰਾ ਚਿਤੁ ਨ ਚਲੈ ਮਨੁ ਭਇਓ ਪੰਗੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
meraa chit na chalai man bhaio pa(n)g ||1|| rahaau ||
My consciousness does not go out wandering. My mind has become crippled. ||1||Pause||
ਏਕ ਦਿਵਸ ਮਨ ਭਈ ਉਮੰਗ ॥
ek divas man bhaee uma(n)g ||
One day, a desire welled up in my mind.
ਘਸਿ ਚੰਦਨ ਚੋਆ ਬਹੁ ਸੁਗੰਧ ॥
ghas cha(n)dan choaa bahu suga(n)dh ||
I ground up sandalwood, along with several fragrant oils.
ਪੂਜਨ ਚਾਲੀ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਠਾਇ ॥
poojan chaalee braham thaai ||
I went to God's place, and worshipped Him there.
ਸੋ ਬ੍ਰਹਮੁ ਬਤਾਇਓ ਗੁਰ ਮਨ ਹੀ ਮਾਹਿ ॥੧॥
so braham bataaio gur man hee maahi ||1||
That God showed me the Guru, within my own mind. ||1||
ਜਹਾ ਜਾਈਐ ਤਹ ਜਲ ਪਖਾਨ ॥
jahaa jaaeeai tah jal pakhaan ||
Wherever I go, I find water and stones.
ਤੂ ਪੂਰਿ ਰਹਿਓ ਹੈ ਸਭ ਸਮਾਨ ॥
too poor rahio hai sabh samaan ||
You are totally pervading and permeating in all.
ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨ ਸਭ ਦੇਖੇ ਜੋਇ ॥
bed puraan sabh dekhe joi ||
I have searched through all the Vedas and the Puraanas.
ਊਹਾਂ ਤਉ ਜਾਈਐ ਜਉ ਈਹਾਂ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥੨॥
oohaa(n) tau jaaeeai jau eehaa(n) na hoi ||2||
I would go there, only if the Lord were not here. ||2||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀ ਤੋਰ ॥
satigur mai balihaaree tor ||
I am a sacrifice to You, O my True Guru.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸਕਲ ਬਿਕਲ ਭ੍ਰਮ ਕਾਟੇ ਮੋਰ ॥
jin sakal bikal bhram kaate mor ||
You have cut through all my confusion and doubt.
ਰਾਮਾਨੰਦ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਰਮਤ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ॥
raamaana(n)d suaamee ramat braham ||
Raamaanand's Lord and Master is the All-pervading Lord God.
ਗੁਰ ਕਾ ਸਬਦੁ ਕਾਟੈ ਕੋਟਿ ਕਰਮ ॥੩॥੧॥
gur kaa sabad kaatai kot karam ||3||1||
The Word of the Guru's Shabad eradicates the karma of millions of past actions. ||3||1||
ਬਸੰਤੁ ਬਾਣੀ ਨਾਮਦੇਉ ਜੀ ਕੀ ॥

ਸਾਹਿਬੁ ਸੰਕਟਵੈ ਸੇਵਕੁ ਭਜੈ ॥
saahib sa(n)katavai sevak bhajai ||
If the servant runs away when his master is in trouble,
ਚਿਰੰਕਾਲ ਨ ਜੀਵੈ ਦੋਊ ਕੁਲ ਲਜੈ ॥੧॥
chira(n)kaal na jeevai dooo kul lajai ||1||
he will not have a long life, and he brings shame to all his family. ||1||
ਤੇਰੀ ਭਗਤਿ ਨ ਛੋਡਉ ਭਾਵੈ ਲੋਗੁ ਹਸੈ ॥
teree bhagat na chhodau bhaavai log hasai ||
I shall not abandon devotional worship of You, O Lord, even if the people laugh at me.
ਚਰਨ ਕਮਲ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੀਅਰੇ ਬਸੈਂ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
charan kamal mere heeare basai(n) ||1|| rahaau ||
The Lord's Lotus Feet abide within my heart. ||1||Pause||
ਜੈਸੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਧਨਹਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਨੀ ਮਰਨੁ ਮਾਂਡੈ ॥
jaise apane dhanahi praanee maran maa(n)dai ||
The mortal will even die for the sake of his wealth;
ਤੈਸੇ ਸੰਤ ਜਨਾਂ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਛਾਡੈਂ ॥੨॥
taise sa(n)t janaa(n) raam naam na chhaadai(n) ||2||
in the same way, the Saints do not forsake the Lord's Name. ||2||
ਗੰਗਾ ਗਇਆ ਗੋਦਾਵਰੀ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਕੇ ਕਾਮਾ ॥
ga(n)gaa gaiaa godaavaree sa(n)saar ke kaamaa ||
Pilgrimages to the Ganges, the Gaya and the Godawari are merely worldly affairs.
