Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਕੀਨੀ ਦਇਆ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੁਸਾਈ ॥
keenee daiaa gopaal gusaaee ||
The Life of the World, the Sustainer of the Earth, has showered His Mercy;
ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ਚਰਣ ਵਸੇ ਮਨ ਮਾਹੀ ॥
gur ke charan vase man maahee ||
the Guru's Feet have come to dwell within my mind.
ਅੰਗੀਕਾਰੁ ਕੀਆ ਤਿਨਿ ਕਰਤੈ ਦੁਖ ਕਾ ਡੇਰਾ ਢਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
a(n)geekaar keeaa tin karatai dukh kaa deraa dhaahiaa jeeu ||1||
The Creator has made me His Own. He has destroyed the city of sorrow. ||1||
ਮਨਿ ਤਨਿ ਵਸਿਆ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
man tan vasiaa sachaa soee ||
The True One abides within my mind and body;
ਬਿਖੜਾ ਥਾਨੁ ਨ ਦਿਸੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
bikhaRaa thaan na disai koee ||
no place seems difficult to me now.
ਦੂਤ ਦੁਸਮਣ ਸਭਿ ਸਜਣ ਹੋਏ ਏਕੋ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਆਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
doot dusaman sabh sajan hoe eko suaamee aahiaa jeeu ||2||
All the evil-doers and enemies have now become my friends. I long only for my Lord and Master. ||2||
ਜੋ ਕਿਛੁ ਕਰੇ ਸੁ ਆਪੇ ਆਪੈ ॥
jo kichh kare s aape aapai ||
Whatever He does, He does all by Himself.
ਬੁਧਿ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਿਛੂ ਨ ਜਾਪੈ ॥
budh siaanap kichhoo na jaapai ||
No one can know His Ways.
ਆਪਣਿਆ ਸੰਤਾ ਨੋ ਆਪਿ ਸਹਾਈ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਭਰਮ ਭੁਲਾਵਾ ਲਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
aapaniaa sa(n)taa no aap sahaaee prabh bharam bhulaavaa laahiaa jeeu ||3||
He Himself is the Helper and Support of His Saints. God has cast out my doubts and delusions. ||3||
ਚਰਣ ਕਮਲ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਆਧਾਰੋ ॥
charan kamal jan kaa aadhaaro ||
His Lotus Feet are the Support of His humble servants.
ਆਠ ਪਹਰ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮੁ ਵਾਪਾਰੋ ॥
aath pahar raam naam vaapaaro ||
Twenty-four hours a day, they deal in the Name of the Lord.
ਸਹਜ ਅਨੰਦ ਗਾਵਹਿ ਗੁਣ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਰਬ ਸਮਾਹਿਆ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੬॥੪੩॥
sahaj ana(n)d gaavahi gun govi(n)d prabh naanak sarab samaahiaa jeeu ||4||36||43||
In peace and pleasure, they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. O Nanak, God is permeating everywhere. ||4||36||43||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਸੋ ਸਚੁ ਮੰਦਰੁ ਜਿਤੁ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ॥
so sach ma(n)dar jit sach dhiaaeeai ||
True is that temple, within which one meditates on the True Lord.
ਸੋ ਰਿਦਾ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ਜਿਤੁ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
so ridaa suhelaa jit har gun gaaeeai ||
Blessed is that heart, within which the Lord's Glorious Praises are sung.
ਸਾ ਧਰਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੀ ਜਿਤੁ ਵਸਹਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਟਹੁ ਕੁਰਬਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
saa dharat suhaavee jit vasahi har jan sache naam vitahu kurabaano jeeu ||1||
Beautiful is that land, where the Lord's humble servants dwell. I am a sacrifice to the True Name. ||1||
ਸਚੁ ਵਡਾਈ ਕੀਮ ਨ ਪਾਈ ॥
sach vadaaee keem na paaee ||
The extent of the True Lord's Greatness cannot be known.
ਕੁਦਰਤਿ ਕਰਮੁ ਨ ਕਹਣਾ ਜਾਈ ॥
kudarat karam na kahanaa jaaee ||
His Creative Power and His Bounties cannot be described.
ਧਿਆਇ ਧਿਆਇ ਜੀਵਹਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਚੁ ਸਬਦੁ ਮਨਿ ਮਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
dhiaai dhiaai jeevahi jan tere sach sabad man maano jeeu ||2||
Your humble servants live by meditating, meditating on You. Their minds treasure the True Word of the Shabad. ||2||
ਸਚੁ ਸਾਲਾਹਣੁ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ਪਾਈਐ ॥
sach saalaahan vadabhaagee paaeeai ||
The Praises of the True One are obtained by great good fortune.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥
gur parasaadee har gun gaaeeai ||
By Guru's Grace, the Glorious Praises of the Lord are sung.
ਰੰਗਿ ਰਤੇ ਤੇਰੈ ਤੁਧੁ ਭਾਵਹਿ ਸਚੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨੀਸਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
ra(n)g rate terai tudh bhaavahi sach naam neesaano jeeu ||3||
Those who are imbued with Your Love are pleasing to You. The True Name is their Banner and Insignia. ||3||
ਸਚੇ ਅੰਤੁ ਨ ਜਾਣੈ ਕੋਈ ॥
sache a(n)t na jaanai koee ||
No one knows the limits of the True Lord.
ਥਾਨਿ ਥਨੰਤਰਿ ਸਚਾ ਸੋਈ ॥
thaan thana(n)tar sachaa soee ||
In all places and interspaces, the True One is pervading.
ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਈਐ ਸਦ ਹੀ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ਜਾਣੋ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੭॥੪੪॥
naanak sach dhiaaeeai sad hee a(n)tarajaamee jaano jeeu ||4||37||44||
O Nanak, meditate forever on the True One, the Searcher of hearts, the Knower of all. ||4||37||44||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਰੈਣਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੜੀ ਦਿਨਸੁ ਸੁਹੇਲਾ ॥
rain suhaavaRee dinas suhelaa ||
Beautiful is the night, and beautiful is the day,
ਜਪਿ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਸੰਤਸੰਗਿ ਮੇਲਾ ॥
jap a(n)mrit naam sa(n)tasa(n)g melaa ||
when one joins the Society of the Saints and chants the Ambrosial Naam.
ਘੜੀ ਮੂਰਤ ਸਿਮਰਤ ਪਲ ਵੰਞਹਿ ਜੀਵਣੁ ਸਫਲੁ ਤਿਥਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
ghaRee moorat simarat pal va(n)njahi jeevan saphal tithaaee jeeu ||1||
If you remember the Lord in meditation for a moment, even for an instant, then your life will become fruitful and prosperous. ||1||
ਸਿਮਰਤ ਨਾਮੁ ਦੋਖ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਥੇ ॥
simarat naam dokh sabh laathe ||
Remembering the Naam, the Name of the Lord, all sinful mistakes are erased.
ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਾਥੇ ॥
a(n)tar baahar har prabh saathe ||
Inwardly and outwardly, the Lord God is always with us.
ਭੈ ਭਉ ਭਰਮੁ ਖੋਇਆ ਗੁਰਿ ਪੂਰੈ ਦੇਖਾ ਸਭਨੀ ਜਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
bhai bhau bharam khoiaa gur poorai dekhaa sabhanee jaaee jeeu ||2||
Fear, dread and doubt have been dispelled by the Perfect Guru; now, I see God everywhere. ||2||
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਮਰਥੁ ਵਡ ਊਚ ਅਪਾਰਾ ॥
prabh samarath vad ooch apaaraa ||
God is All-powerful, Vast, Lofty and Infinite.
ਨਉ ਨਿਧਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਭਰੇ ਭੰਡਾਰਾ ॥
nau nidh naam bhare bha(n)daaraa ||
The Naam is overflowing with the nine treasures.
ਆਦਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਮਧਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਈ ਦੂਜਾ ਲਵੈ ਨ ਲਾਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੩॥
aad a(n)t madh prabh soee doojaa lavai na laaee jeeu ||3||
In the beginning, in the middle, and in the end, there is God. Nothing else even comes close to Him. ||3||
ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੀਨ ਦਇਆਲਾ ॥
kar kirapaa mere deen daiaalaa ||
Take pity on me, O my Lord, Merciful to the meek.
ਜਾਚਿਕੁ ਜਾਚੈ ਸਾਧ ਰਵਾਲਾ ॥
jaachik jaachai saadh ravaalaa ||
I am a beggar, begging for the dust of the feet of the Holy.
ਦੇਹਿ ਦਾਨੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਨੁ ਮਾਗੈ ਸਦਾ ਸਦਾ ਹਰਿ ਧਿਆਈ ਜੀਉ ॥੪॥੩੮॥੪੫॥
dehi daan naanak jan maagai sadaa sadaa har dhiaaee jeeu ||4||38||45||
Servant Nanak begs for this gift: let me meditate on the Lord, forever and ever. ||4||38||45||

Maajh, Fifth Mehl:
ਐਥੈ ਤੂੰਹੈ ਆਗੈ ਆਪੇ ॥
aithai too(n)hai aagai aape ||
You are here, and You are hereafter.
ਜੀਅ ਜੰਤ੍ਰ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਥਾਪੇ ॥
jee ja(n)tr sabh tere thaape ||
All beings and creatures were created by You.
ਤੁਧੁ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਈ ਕਰਤੇ ਮੈ ਧਰ ਓਟ ਤੁਮਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੧॥
tudh bin avar na koee karate mai dhar ot tumaaree jeeu ||1||
Without You, there is no other, O Creator. You are my Support and my Protection. ||1||
ਰਸਨਾ ਜਪਿ ਜਪਿ ਜੀਵੈ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥
rasanaa jap jap jeevai suaamee ||
The tongue lives by chanting and meditating on the Lord's Name.
ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਅੰਤਰਜਾਮੀ ॥
paarabraham prabh a(n)tarajaamee ||
The Supreme Lord God is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts.
ਜਿਨਿ ਸੇਵਿਆ ਤਿਨ ਹੀ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਸੋ ਜਨਮੁ ਨ ਜੂਐ ਹਾਰੀ ਜੀਉ ॥੨॥
jin seviaa tin hee sukh paaiaa so janam na jooai haaree jeeu ||2||
Those who serve the Lord find peace; they do not lose their lives in the gamble. ||2||
ਨਾਮੁ ਅਵਖਧੁ ਜਿਨਿ ਜਨ ਤੇਰੈ ਪਾਇਆ ॥
naam avakhadh jin jan terai paaiaa ||
Your humble servant, who obtains the Medicine of the Naam,
